elevated SMbJC George Ki Yan Wong, beloved husband of Wendy, cherished father of Patricia and Alex and father-in-law of Brad and Cyndi, loving grandfather of Nicholas, Ryan and Kennedy, passed away on June 8, 2018.
elevated SMbJC George had many loves: family, travelling, cars, music, sports, songwriting, the outdoors. He lived life to the fullest. Born in Hong Kong, he was the sixth of eight siblings. He met and married Wendy, his soul mate. He was an alumni of St. Joseph’s Boys School, worked at Peat Marwick and joined the Hong Kong Police. He was the special assistant to the Police Commissioner and was the Chief Driving Examiner for the Hong Kong Police. He wrote a book about his life in the Hong Kong Police Force which is in its 4th printing. In 1971 he immigrated to Canada to join the RCMP Asian Crime Squad.
elevated SMbJC He was always very inventive and creative. He designed a racing car bed, modular furniture, unique toys and was involved in numerous business adventures which included owning a marina and a restaurant. He was the chinese lyricist for an opera, Iron Road. Those who knew George will recognize his tireless energy, kindness, willingness to help and knew him as someone that everyone can always depend on.

The parking spaces are marked but not numbered and there is a parking ticket issuing station nearby. After you park please remember NOT TO GET A TICKET from the station and DO NOT PAY. Go straight to the restaurant and once inside there is a monitor stand where you enter your car licence number, and your parking will be free. We will have an attendant to help direct you to the correct area.

We will miss George. What a wonderful life – one to be remembered and one to be celebrated. He was a most loving family man to Wendy and his family. His many talents, the zest and energy, the sense of humor were unparalleled. His sincerity, kindness and benevolent generosity to his fellow human beings were truly exemplary. He has touched, impacted, and bettered many lives. Yet he remained, always, a humble man, and he always had that rare gift of seeing great beauty in simple things – lyrics of a song, a tree, a sunset.
George and Wendy met with us on several occasions in Toronto. Albeit fleeting encounters, he left in us indelible fond memories. We know that Wendy will find peace in the support of her loving family and friends around her; and that she will continue to find strength and inspiration in his memory.

We are very sorry to hear of his passing.
We will miss him a lot. We will remember all his wonderful talents but especially his sense of humour as well as his tease. In his company, he always made us laugh heartily.

May the Lord bless you and comfort you and your family in this time of grieve. All the friends from Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co will remember how George organized our Sports Club Christmas parties in the early 1960’s.
George was a man with many interests and hobbies. His passion for sports and classic cars saw him participating in motor racing and ownership of a rare Lotus Europa. His love for sailing and the outdoors was evidenced by his boat which he called “Me No Junk”.
Everyone who knew him enjoyed riding in this special vessel.
His many talents include composing his own music and songs.
He wrote a book narrating his experience as a senior officer with the HK Police Force. He lived a complete life and was a devoted family man and loyal friend. He was a humble and humorous person. We will all miss George but will forever remember him for his generosity of spirit, kindness and unconditional friendship.

George.Wong has many talents.. He is one of.the few people who have been vey important in my life. He had helped me a lot in my work, and he had taught me a lot of things in daily life living. I could always go to hom for advice. He is vey blessed to have a very supportive and caring family. May God bless his soul and comfort his family.
We are honored to have met George, shared time with him and got to call him our friend. He was a man of many talents but he will be remembered for his sense of humour and never ending smile. He will be greatly missed.

With deepest sympathy and remembrance of George.
Grandpa George & Grandma Wendy, We met you at Musselman’s Lake the summer of 2007, when we came to scope out the neighbourhood. You insisted we skip the local cafe and come to enjoy coffee at your home instead. Since then we have had the pleasure of being your friends and we love you and your family very much. We will forever cherish the times we had with you at Musselman’s Lake. We celebrate Grandpa George’s wonderful life and his genuine warmth, playfulness and kindness.
George and I met in 1963 in Police Training School in Aberdeen, HK. Our squad was invited to his wedding at his parents’ house in Repulse Bay. We acted as Honor Guard at his wedding (full dress uniform, crossed swords for Wendy and him to go under to exit the church after the wedding). They were such a beautiful couple. We met again 2 years later at Police Training Contingent; I remember following him in his Lotus Elan on the hilly, windy road to the campus in the New Territories. (No, I would not have been able to keep up except for the windy road and the traffic; neither my car nor I was in the same class in the machine or driving skill departments.) My wife and I met him (and Wendy) again in 2013 when we visited them, and they treated us to a boat ride around the lake, and a delicious dinner at the Dragon Boat Restaurant in Toronto. He and Wendy visited us in California. We had sushi at our house, and I learned that he actually loved sushi. I will not forget him. He left me with a memory of a man who lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed life to the fullest. I still have his book Hong Kong Bobby (signed by him), and will treasure it and see his smiling face on the cover.
George, you will always be remembered as my best business partner and for the countless years of friendship and entertainment we shared. It was an honour and pleasure to be your friend and you will be sorely missed by both of us.
Vicky and I heard the sad news tonight at a restaurant from a mutual friend. George and his wife Wendy and we knew each other for a long, long time. We travelled and cruised together in the early nineties and enjoyed each other’s company very much. George was a great leader and a man of integrity, full of energy and talents. Though we did not see each other that often lately, he and his family are always in our hearts. May god bless him. May he rest in peace.
I am so very sorry for your loss. George was, beyond a doubt, the finest and kindest person I have had the pleasure of knowing. What a truly lovely man. He will be greatly missed.
