elevated fdddj Obituary
elevated fdddj It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our dear friend, uncle, brother and most loving husband George Callan.
elevated fdddj George will leave a void in the hearts of his family; his loving wife of 47 years Bridie, his Brother Martin, his Sisters Maggie Green, Pamela Callan, and Donna Casey(Kieran). His brother in laws; the late Daniel (Lena), Patrick (Alice) and Kieran Collumb (Kathleen). He will also leave behind many many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
elevated fdddj George died suddenly after a short illness while convalescing at Sunnybrook Rehabilitation Centre. George was a compassionate, strong and brave person who battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years. Despite his illness and his loss of mobility, George remained positive, upbeat and happy right up to his passing. His sense of humour and warm smile greeted everyone who would drop by to visit him. Over the years, along with his special caregivers, George became an avid painter with numerous works of his displayed throughout their home. George even exhibited his works for the public at a Charity event where his paintings were well received by friends and visitors. To his surprise, he even sold a a few pieces which made him smile and give that wink that only George could give.
elevated fdddj Born in Co. Derry N. Ireland, George immigrated to Canada in 1970 where he was reunited with the love of his life Bridie. He attended the University of Toronto where he obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work for Ontario Hydro up until he took early retirement as a result of his illness.
elevated fdddj George’s memory will continue in the hearts and minds of all of his family. His strength, warmth, compassion and bravery should be a source of inspiration for all of us.
elevated fdddj The family would like to thank all of his Doctors and Caregivers for all of their dedication and compassion over the years. A special thank you to our dear friends Gary Nair, Jonathan Doroton and the Forkan Family whose love and support continues.
elevated fdddj The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
elevated fdddj “Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free”
George you were a gentle man who I never heard complain about anything. We would say come on George tell us a joke you always had one ready. When having a conversation you’d love talking about the latest things happening on the news and politics. Well your up there in Heaven now George with all limbs working just fine free from MS. Just to finish, one of your sayings you used to tell me was – If you want something done ask a busy man as the rest have no time. God Bless
Dear Bridie, I am really sad and sorry to hear of George’s
passing. I know you will miss him terribly and I know God will help you through this.
Deepest sympathy from the Wailoo Family.
God Bless You.
Dear Bridie and family,

Bridie,
George was an example to all of us in how to deal with life’s challenges.
Back in the day when you had your Apartment on Balliol and had the crew over for dinner George could always be relied upon to keep us in stitches, whether it was pretending to have composed a poem or relating the story of how on your Honeymoon in Florida (I think) he undertipped the busboy and he kicked your suitcases through the door.
Glad to have known George and my heart goes out to you Bridie.
Dear Bridie,
You are very much in our thoughts and prayers, even though it’s been a long while since we’ve seen each other. A special hug from Mimi and I. May God bless you and comfort you, and your family as well.
Dear Bridie,
My prayers, thoughts ,Faith and hope will always be with you as you go through this trying period of grief and sadness with the lost of your love George. He was such a remarkable gentleman who was always willing to dialogue on most topics of interests. I will surely miss him! May the Almighty Father grant you the strength and healing as you go along this new journey with your life!
Dear Bridie, sorry we could’nt be with you at this sad time, but we are there in spirit.
George will be missed greatly missed but I have no doubt he is in a better place, no more wheelchair, maybe playing Golf.
May his soul rest in peace
Dear Bridie, Ted and I are so very sad indeed to learn of George’s passing; I have such warm and grateful memories of him spending so much time repairing a dent in my borrowed car when we went to pick up a Christmas tree way out of town and slid on 401 on the way home and then of you as one of my bridesmaids and George an Usher. George was a very kind and gentle man; a privilege to have known. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Mary & Ted Rickard
