It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Armando Maringola. Armando is survived by his cherished wife of nearly 65 years, Maria and their loving children Michael (Luisa), Mirella, Paul (Angie), and Peter. Armando was also adored Nonno to Alexandra (Amir), Vanessa (Adam), and Matthew.
He is survived by his loving brother, Angelo and will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Michael and Natalia Maringola, and siblings Giovanni, Maria, and Julio. Armando will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Armando was born on February 26, 1933 in San Vincenzo La Costa Cosenza, Italy. It is there that he met his adoring Maria, began courting her in 1951 and married her on January 8, 1956. Armando and Maria immigrated to Toronto, Canada in May 1957 where they made a home for themselves and their children.
Armando was a man of tremendous courage, moving to a new country. Without a formal education and without speaking a word of English, he worked very hard to support his wife and children. Armando also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and making improvements to his home. He leaves behind an incredible legacy. He touched everyone he met with his gentle, kind soul and never wavered in his willingness to help anyone in need. Papa you are forever in the hearts.
A sincere thank you to the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph Health Centre and the Palliative Care Team from the Dorothy Ley Hospice, for their compassion and assistance in caring for our father.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children in Armando’s memory.
