elevated FbghF Born in Villalago L’Aquila, Italy on July 4, 1937, to parents Rochetto and Assunta. She had the passion to learn and attend school. However due to economic times, in her early teens her parents were required to work which held her responsible for the household duties and caring for her younger siblings. At the age of 17 , on January 9, 1955, she married the late Lino. In 1956 , she arrived in Canada and settled in Toronto at the age of 18 and began her life in Canada. She welcomed her first daughter Luciana at the age of 19 , second daughter Susan and a son Domenic years later. At a young age she raised her 3 children and managed a household with no immediate family to support her. Her family was always her priority and focus. Her passions included cooking, baking, gardening both vegetables and flowers. She always shared the harvest of her garden with family and friends. Sharing food was always important to her. You never left her home without a care package. Her pastime included sewing and knitting. She always loved the company of her pet birds and family dogs. She enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts with a twinkle in her eyes. In spite of being a homemaker, she maintained her intellect and always kept up to date on local and international events/news. She loved to tell stories of her childhood life in Villalago and her love for dancing and singing.

Susy, Luciana and Mimmo,
my family was very saddened with the news of your mother’s passing. She was an amazing, kind hearted woman, with a beautiful smile, and a very dear friend to my mother. My children couldn’t wait to walk home from school so they could knock on Zia Maria’s door to say, “Hello, Zia!” She always greeted them with happiness and small treat that they couldn’t wait to eat.
We will always have very fond memories of her, and we miss her deeply.
Our sincerest condolences,
Rita Orsi and family
