elevated C9bWg It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Socorro Aguiar. Socorro passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 74 years, at Chartwell Gibson Long Term Care. Beloved husband to Greta. Loving father and favourite dance-partner to Vanessa (Paul Nitsotolis), Emily and Glynis (Shannon Barretto). Adored grandfather to Jasmine, Jaden, Ava and Liam. Son of the late Arsenio and Ida Aguiar, and son-in-law of the late Francisco and Delfina. Devoted brother to Mabel (Tony), late Robert, late Romeo (Yolanda), Nolasco (Leonita), Cyril (Sylvia). Cherished brother-in-law to Alina and Liberto (Daphne). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Soco will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his extended family and friends. Soco was so proud of his 35-year career at IBM which gave him the opportunity to travel the world. He enjoyed playing soccer and field hockey and continued to play into his 60’s. He is fondly remembered for his smile and kindness and generosity to others, his love of dancing, his love of sports, and his pride for his family. A special thank you to all the staff at Chartwell Gibson for taking such good care of Soco in his final years. We take comfort in knowing that his suffering is over and may he rest in peace. Hi Greta and family
So saddened to hear of our friend Soco’s untimely passing. We remember you both very fondly and wonderful memories. Soco always was a gentle soul and always had a smile on his face. You two were such a lovely couple – always laughing and joking. Such a shame we have not seen you guys in a long time and had not realised Soco was ill.
Please know that you and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We hope warm memories of a gentle, kind and loving husband/father will sustain you in this very sad time.
Love
Julie & Jules Rodricks
Dear Greta and family,
Sending hugs to our neighbours. I have fond memories of my Dad and Soco chatting for hours in one driveway or the other on warm summer evenings – talking about everything from lawns, to politics, to sports! Such a very gentle man with an infectious smile and always a wave to me as I came home to visit! Thinking of you, Linda
First of all, please accept my deepest condolences to the entire family but especially Greta and the children. Socco was not a close friend of mine in school as I did not get to know him well owing to my lack of participation in sports. However, on one of my visits to Toronto, Socco offered me a ride to the Tanzanite event. He picked me up from where I was staying and took me to his home for a beer before heading to the event.
A few years later I returned to Toronto, he with Leslie and Joe, came to the hotel where I was staying and took me to lunch and a short time later sent me pictures.I got to admire his warmth and kindness.
I am very sad to hear of his passing and pray that his soul rest in eternal peace. We will all miss our dear friend Socco.
Amen.
Warm wishes,
Azim Walli

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Dearest Greta, Vanessa, Emily, Glynis and the Aguiar family we send you our deepest and sincerest heartfelt condolences.
We are very saddened to hear of the sad demise of our friend, your loving husband/father/brother/brother-in-law Soco.
At this moment we cannot help but think and picture him at Vera’s place in Ajax at Fabian’s gathering of friends where I met last met him. We spoke the entire afternoon and evening talking and reminiscing our good old Nazi Moja days in Dar. I reminded him of our hockey trp as Rovers to Arusha where he got a new nickname “Comfort”. I was with the rest of the hockey team travelling in the mini bus that shattered the windshield on the way. It was night and the cold winds was blowing in our face. Soco was with Raul in the car following behind. He was traveling in comfort. He broke out in laughter as her remembered. He was as usual very joyfully respectable and always loving, friendly and pleasant.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and your families. We pray to the Almighty Lord to give you all courage, strength and support. God bless his soul. Love and Peace.
Yours in sorrow.
Peter & Irene De Albuquerque and Family
Dear Greta & Family,
My deepest condolences to you and your family. My prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time. RIP Socco.
My deepest sympathies, Greta. You may remember my sister and I. Everyone referred to us as “B” and “C” from B.C. We got to know you and Socco through the Mendes’, Late Artie and Anthony, and their family. My husband John got to know Socco through soccer. We watched his service this morning together. My sister Bea also sends her condolences to you and your family from Vancouver, B.C.
It’s sad how life becomes so busy and takes us in different directions and we drift apart from good memories and old friends.
All our love,
Crystal, Beatrice and John
Socco was a wonderful person, so friendly and helpful and we couldn’t have been luckier to have such a great neighbour. His love for his family was always so evident and we hope the strong bond he helped create within his family unit is what helps each family member through their sad loss of a husband, a father and grandfather far sooner than it should have been.
