It is with heavy hearts and sorrow that we announce the passing away of Annunziata Pellegrini on February 10, 2021 at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late Raffaele. Caring and devoted mother to Anna (Franco), Emilia (Giuseppe), Restituta (Severino), Antonio (Rosa) and Maria Luisa (late Giovanni). Proud Nonna to 12 grandchildren Tony (Tina), Lisa (Stefano), Nancy (Ralph), Sonia (Johnny), Sarah (Eugene), Christina, Maria (Rodrigo), Amanda (Sena), Stephanie (Alesandro), Fabio (Natasha), Giancarlo (Chiara) and Jessica (Giancarlo) and 16 great grandchildren. Cherished sister to Antonio (Elizabeth), Franco (Anna) the late Vincenzo (the late Anna) and the late Loreto (the late Maria).
Annunziata was born to parents Domenico Porretta and Restituta Guglietti on November 9, 1921 in Sora, Frosinone, Italy.
She met her husband Raffaele and they were married on June 12,1943. Soon after they started their family welcoming four children. Raffaele then left Sora to start a new life for his family in Canada.
On June 16, 1960 Annunziata and her children sailed the Atlantic Ocean and reunited with Raffaele in Toronto. They then welcomed their fifth child. While Raffaele worked to support his family, Annunziata devoted her time to raising her children. She cherished her family very much and did everything a Mother could possibly do to protect, nurture and guide them. Her love and support were unconditional and non-judgmental.
Annunziata was a woman of great faith and strongly believed that good prevails above all. With little knowledge of English she was always willing to help others and found fulfillment in giving back to her community and parish. She always made time for prayer and in difficult times she would tell us “raccomandati alla Madonna” which means to turn to Mother Mary for guidance.
Although a woman of few words, her soothing presence was known. She always carried a genuine smile and had a contagious laugh. Annunziata had the ability to inspire and empower others through her humility, resilience, and independence.
She appreciated life’s simplest pleasures, whether it was spending time outside in her garden or admiring her rose bushes or sharing a “caffè” with social tea biscuits or enjoying a glass of wine at dinner. But most of all she valued spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She encouraged others to find peace in all situations, the ability to forgive, and demonstrated what it means to live a life of dignity.
Annunziata was loved and adored by all who were fortunate to have met her. The love we had, and continue to have for her, is everlasting.

We celebrate you. We will forever cherish the moments and times together, especially your many traditional home cooked dishes, with an extra pinch of salt. We promise to keep those traditions alive.
We thank you for the lessons you taught us, the values you instilled, and the love you gave.
