elevated Y7wSa Obituary
elevated Y7wSa Peacefully, in his home, Ted Gryguć passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer over the past year. He will be dearly missed by his wife Gina, children Gregory, Jennifer (Pete), Andrew & Jeffrey along with his grandchildren Connor, Audrey, Blake, Charley, Georgia & Jessica. Anyone who knew Ted personally knew that he was a man who truly lived in his purpose, having a fulfilling career, loving family and an insatiable thirst for life that he passed on to his children.
elevated Y7wSa A large part of who Ted was as a person, was a competitor, and this was manifested in his illustrious boat racing career over 4 decades. He achieved many prominent accolades and racing success, the ability to travel and compete at the highest level all over the world. From 1981 to 1988, Ted earned 6 High Point and 5 Canadian National Championships. In 1991, he was the Mod VP World Champion. He also excelled in marathon racing, becoming the first Canadian winner of classic events like the Parker Seven Hour Enduro, the Lake Havasu Classic and the Bill Muncey Memorial Trophy. From 1986 to 1992, Ted raced successfully on the International Outboard Grand Prix (IOGP) circuit. He saw a direct correlation between his racing successes and his business’, Speedmaster Marine’s success. In 1995, at the age of 45, Ted Gryguć began racing Formula 1 tunnel boat’s and mounted an attack on the premier outboard class. He succeeded, capturing 3 High Point and 3 Canadian National Championships between 1995 and 1999. All of this culminated into him being inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2007 & CBF Hall of Fame in 2018, a flawless conclusion to his world renowned racing career.
elevated Y7wSa Ted was a humble, stoic and remarkable man, who was a great judge of character and extremely generous to those whom he loved. With all his worldly achievements, the one Ted was most proud of was his family. Gina and Ted had an amazing marriage that prospered for over 34 years. Nothing meant more to him than his wife and family. It is without a doubt that he will still be “Simply the Quickest” up in heaven.

I Knew Ted for about 30 odd years through speed master one thing about Ted l will always remember he always took time to to talk and or explain things so you understood. Even when I went through the area I’d just pop in for a few minutes to say hi and how’s it going and always appreciated the hello busy or not. Thanks Ted for helping me out in the early years and giving some real insight on motors etc. Rest in peace my friend. And to the family my deepest thoughts and prayers for all to bring you peace and togetherness at this time and into the future. Hoping speed master marine will still live on with Ted’s legacy that he loved so much.

I’ve had some wild times with Ted over the years and he will never be forgotten
Ted was a great man and he will be missed by many but he will not be forgotten, we have had words over the past 30+ years. When I had motor issues he was always there to help and solve problems. I had a lot of respect for the man and we still stayed friends, thoughts and prayers for his family from Jim and Don Tucker
Gina and family, we are so sorry for your loss! Jan and I are praying for your comfort in these days. I treasure my times I had with Ted in hospitals at races and just hanging out at the races with you all.
We treasure many fond memories of Ted, including hilarious episodes with an always optimistic, upbeat and cheerful man. Ted was simply fun to be with, and usually had great stories to share.
I recall times while we were still in high school, including Ted playing the Double Bass in the school orchestra. I vividly remember enjoying dinner in a restaurant, discussing the soon-to-be Speedmaster Marine.
The rest became history. There will never be another who even comes close to Ted’s list of outstanding achievements. We will miss him.
Deepest sympathies from my family to Gina and the entire Gryguc family.

I remember in ’83 at Dunnville I broke a hydraulic hose at the end of the first heat. Even though we were competitors Ted spent the entire time before the second heat in my boat fixing my broken line. Foregoing any adjustments on his boat. I will never forget it. That was Ted and he will be missed.
What a great guy.
On behalf of Monsignor John Corrigan Staff and students we express our sincere condolences to Gina and family.

Ted Thank you for being my friend for 40 years I will never forget you see in the next life world God Speed Ted!
Ted and I grew up in the same neighborhood. I remember taking his dad’s car, racing over to Buffalo to buy a 45 record and racing back home before his dad got home from work. That was my first experience with Ted and his penchant for speed. There would be many more over the years whether it was cars or boats. We will miss the sound of a Ted Corvette or the roar down the river on Go Home Lake with one of Ted’s racing boats. We were fortunate to vacation with Ted and Gina several times during the past few years and had a wonderful time with them. Far too many memories to recall when you’ve known a person for over 55 years. We will miss you Ted! SpeedMaster!
Godspeed Ted the wind in your fist!

Family functions and get-togethers will never be same without you Ted. Rest in Peace.
Gina,
I just wanted to extend my deepest condolences to you and your family at this very sad time. The fact that we were unable to pay our respects in person, is unfortunate and makes it hard for all of the people who knew Ted, and would have wanted to be there.
Ted always had a larger than life persona about him. The wonderful words spoken by Jeffery about his dad, are a testament to that. He will certainly be missed by those of us in our extended family, and also by those of us who knew the boat and racing side of his life. I have received a number of notices from friends that knew him from there as well.
I know that when we remember Ted, it will always bring a smile to our faces. And that’s a life well lived. Again, my deepest condolences.
John Chiarelli
I have great memories of Ted and will always be à Legend in Canadian MOTORSPORTS .

Very sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. He was a legend to so many
who appreciate Hi-Performance marine and snowmobile engines.
My sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Mr. Ted Gryguc.
Hearing about Ted’s passing has both brought me sadness and vivid past memories. Sadness and sincerest condolences to Gina and family…..fond memories of ‘trusted’ Ted working on my Z28 installing speed-em-up parts and and running it in his shop in the late 70’s with the headers totally open….. doing his best to make me deaf. The man was multi-talented, had a quick wit at Ray’s parties, was always right to the point and accepted no B.S…. was fully devoted to everything he loved and held dear….family and speed! Angels in Heaven are lucky to have him…if they can even catch and keep up to Ted! Will be missed by so many here on Earth!
