elevated Ch0M3 Colman George de Souza, of Burlington, Ontario passed away on April 13th at the age of 84. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Colman faced life and death with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Rosemarie, of 55 years, his son Russell, daughter-in-law Celine, and his grandson Ethan, his pride and joy. He is predeceased by his grandchildren Phoebe and Evan.
elevated Ch0M3 Colman was born in Rangoon, Burma to Helen and Edwin de Souza. He was the oldest of 3 children: brothers Alwyn and Eden, and sister Claudette. Colman was a beloved uncle and brother-in-law to many. He married his beloved Rosemarie in 1965, and they emigrated from Karachi, Pakistan to Canada in 1966. He lived in Markham, Ontario for 40 years, where he was a devoted Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick’s Parish. He directed advertising and marketing research with Grant Advertising, Foster Advertising, the Financial Post, and the National Post, from where he retired in 2000 as Vice-President of Media and Director of Research.
elevated Ch0M3 Colman was the life of their many parties, and made friends everywhere he went. We will never forget the anniversary dinners, the SYP, the Sarasota Six, and nights of bridge and investing advice. He was an avid photographer, stamp collector, and gardener. He loved trains, birds, music, and a good glass of scotch, most often shared with his brother Eden. He and Rosemarie traveled the world.
elevated Ch0M3 His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, care-coordinators, and personal support workers provided through the Burlington Local Health Integration Network, Acclaim Health, VON, Right-At-Home, and Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. This support allowed Colman to pass away peacefully and with dignity in his own home as was his wish. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider contributing to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or Acclaim Health.
elevated Ch0M3 Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Colman will be interred along with his brother Alwyn at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Thornhill in a private family gathering. We are planning a Celebration of Life to take place in the future, as conditions permit.

I have been lucky to have known Colman for many years, ever since we first met in school back in 1949
Through all these years, I have known Colman and his family and siblings during our school and college years in Karachi. We continued our friendship after meeting again several years later in Canada.
Colman was a wonderful guy in all departments. Rather conservative, humble, low key, very clever ,knowledgeable, and wise. Best of all, he had an unmatched sense of humour. When things were getting a bit dull and boring at a party, he would suddenly rise to the occasion and keep us all in splits of laughter no end. He was always the most popular and most likeable man of the show.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Rosemarie, Russell, Celine and lovely son Ethan, and families, during this sad time
Colman will always be remembered as a good man, down to earth friend and man of faith.

I am so grateful for his mentoring my husband Eden and Alwyn the youngest brother when we arrived in Canada. Colman was well read, well up on current events, yet loved dancing and parties.. he idolized wife Rosemarie, son and daughter in law Celine and only grandson Ethan. Loved to FaceTime with him.. Rest In Peace , Colman.

An obituary that covers exactly who Colman was, a gentleman and a scholar with a sharp wit to boot. He was a classmate of mine at St. Patrick’s in Karachi and after going our separate ways met him and Rosemarie many years later in Markham where we all chose to live. He will be missed but we thank the time shared with this humble soul and the final call he made wishing us a happy Easter. You will always be a happy memory in our lives Colman. Rosemarie and Family. I am so very sorry to hear of Coleman’s passing. I remember him well from our school years as Claudette was my best friend then. Thereafter our lives went in different directions. It is so tragic to learn from my cousin, Alan Falcao, of the entire loss of the siblings. May he Rest In Peace and May God give you the needed Strength to move forward.
