elevated 5izmk Obituary
It is with great regret and profound sadness to announce the passing of Sigmund “Joe” Werb. Joe passed away peacefully on Monday, December 6th, 2021, at the age of 71. The family would like to thank the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre and Toronto Western Hospital for the care, kindness and compassion they provided to him.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Arlean; daughters Kristen and Tawnya (JP Poirier); grandchildren John, Emilie and Sophie; brothers Marc and Larrie; his extended family and an abundance of friends. We will all miss him more than words can say. He is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Margaret.
Joe was a patient, kind-hearted man who’s storytelling will be missed. He had an adventurous streak and was an avid car enthusiast like his own father. He used this passion towards a successful career in fleet management, and as chairman of the North American Fleet Association (NAFA). He enjoyed racing, traveling, golfing, fishing and reading a good novel. Anyone who knew Joe was touched by his humour and easy-going attitude. He was a dedicated family man and a very proud Grandpa.
A celebration of life visitation will be held on Saturday December 11th, 2021 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Holy Cross Funeral Home (211 Langstaff Road E) followed by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. A private reception at the funeral home is to follow from 1:30pm-3:30pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, an attendance limit is in place for the final reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation in memory of Joe Werb.
Deepest condolences to everyone in the Werb family
With love
Kristina and Greg

Sending you all my love. Uncle Joe will be missed very dearly. I will always remember the number of “auto” hats he collected in the front closet (I’m sure there were more). Cherish the memories you have as well. Lots of love,

We have gotten to know Joe and Arlean over the past 9 years as we became “in laws”. We shared many celebrations with them. Joe always had a great story to tell. We have the pleasure of sharing three adorable grandchildren and we know just how much Joe cherished the littles.

Arlean, Kristen, Tawnya, words cannot express my sense of loss in the passing of a best friend dating back 60 years. Commencing with our Grade 6 new-to-Park-Lawn proving grounds, through the very memorable teen years, the meeting of our future wives at the Broom and Stone (quite a story there), the growth of our families, the loss of our parents, our entry into the retired generation, to my last video call with Joe during which I was able to say “I love you bro”, your sorrow is shared in my heart – my deepest of sympathies. My tears meld with yours in celebrating the life of a great man, a great husband, a great father and grandfather, and a great friend. May God bless Joseph. Mark and Larry, my condolences in the loss of your brother, I know how much he loved you both.
knew joe/arlene thru my sisters pat/darlene, harlows/erlachs and found them to be extremely fun-loving when we were at parties and tom/pats cottage in lake simcoe. Joe was as sofr spoken as could be but loved to tell stories and be a huge part of this crowd. He was given oh so many years ago on a golf course played by family/friends the golf saying==OH THAT’S A WERBE==by mark/brett harlow which he honoured so graciously any time this needed to be said
