elevated T3O9W It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Maria on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Welland County General Hospital. Daughter of the late Francesco Alfano and Emilia Alfano. Beloved wife of the late Biagio. Loving mother of Lucia Spezzano (Giovanni Spezzano), Patrizia Cece (Giuseppe Cece), and Francesca Ristich. Cherished nonna of Elizabeth Cesario-Gomes (Timothy Gomes), Maddalena Spezzano, Joey (Giuseppe) Cece, Vincenzo Cece, Emily Ristich, Alexandar Ristich, Ristana Ristich, and bis-nonna of Katarina Gomes, Dante Gomes, and Lucia Gomes. Dear sister of Lina Febbraro (Carmelo), Michael Alfano (Victoria), Mario Alfano (Anna) and the late Tony Alfano (Gwen). Maria is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy. The family would like to thank the Dialysis Nurses at Niagara General Hospital and Welland County General Hospital for their exceptional care given to Maria.
elevated T3O9W Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, ON (Bayview and Langstaff). Due to Covid-19 capacity restrictions, friends may have to wait to pay their respects during the visitation period, we are inviting family and friends to a walk-through visitation only to pay their respects, offer condolences, and then kindly exit the building to allow for others to enter.

Oh Lucy, my dear friend. So sad to hear about your mom’s passing. This must be so difficult for you and the whole family. I know how much you loved her and after meeting her and getting to know the woman you spoke highly of, I saw the love in her eyes for you, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always spoke highly of you and your husband.
She was very charismatic and loving. I, so enjoyed and loved sitting with her and listening about her stories of her life and so appreciated when advice was given. She was truly a wonderful human being. I am truly sorry that you and your entire family are experiencing the loss of this beautiful woman; especially during the holidays.

Our Love and prayers are with the family at this time. Maria loved Jesus and was looking forward to going home and being with Jesus and seeing Her husband Biagio again. Maria’s greatest prayer was for her whole family and everyone she knew was that they would also come to Jesus. That each one would live their lives for Jesus and become children of God so that one day they all will be together again in the loving presence of Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
