elevated hw5Sc Obituary
elevated hw5Sc Procopio Racadio Asuncion passed away peacefully the morning of January 7th, 2022 at McKenzine Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, Canada.
Procopio was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his boundless strength, unwavering faith, and natural leadership, He was also admired for his positive attitude and outlook on life. He was born on July 8, 1923, and was raised in Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It was there that he met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Benita Asuncion. Together, they lovingly raised their 7 children: Condrado (deceased), Flor, George, Lynn, Lito, Cora, & Mel. After Benita passed in 2004, Procopio was blessed once more with a second loving and happy marriage to Norma Asuncion for 15 years.
After World War II, he left his family behind in the Philippines for 10 years and worked in Guam’s Military Base as an auto/truck lubricator/driver and later on as an executive driver where he fully appreciated the value of education and committed himself to instill that value for his 6 surviving children. At age 57, he and his wife migrated to Canada with their youngest children. Throughout his adult life, Procopio was a loving support to his family all around the world. He was a well-respected man in various leadership roles in his town, parish, and school community.
Procopio was and will always be the hero and rock who will hold the Asuncion family together. His teachings and legacy of integrity, strength, honesty, hard work, service, and care for others will live on through his family for generations. His lessons, laughter, and love will be cherished forever.
Drawing from Procopio’s famous words, his family would like to say, “Don’t worry Lolo, we will be happy. We love you.”.
Thank you Dad for everything. May you Rest In Peace with our Heavenly Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
