It is with great sadness that the family of Karel Kuzmic announces his passing on August 14, 2022 in Scarborough, Ontario. Known to family and friends as “Karci”, he was born to Karolina and Stefan Kuzmic on November 1, 1944 in Vardaci, Slovenia. Following his military service in Slovenia, Karci arrived in Canada with his parents in 1966 to join his brother Steven (Trezika) and sisters Helen (Rudy) and Mary (John). Although they met in Canada, he and his treasured wife Tatjana (née Balazic) were both from the Prekmurje region of Slovenia and savoured trips to visit family in their beautiful homeland. Together, they had 2 children: Steven (Julie D.) and Michael (Julie K.). Their 4 grandchildren, Josh, Nolan, Matthew and Marcus, will always remember their beloved Dedek as a loving playmate and a keen chess opponent. A licensed and skilled plumber, Karci helped start and keep the water flowing in countless buildings across the Greater Toronto Area. His numerous cherished nieces, nephews and extended family will fondly remember his visits, many of which involved his toolbox and a delayed meal due to his impeccable standards for his own work. He was an avid gardener and could coax even the most reluctant vegetables to thrive in his magnificent garden. He will always be remembered for lighting up in the presence of his grandchildren and his devotion to the entire family.
