Obituary
elevated 4aXvJ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Eileen Heffernan (nee Hayes) at Michael Garron Hospital on September 26, 2022 at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late James Lawrence Heffernan, her husband of 73 years, Frances passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her sister Sheila McInall and will be fondly remembered by her children Larry (Louise), Mike (Anita), Rick (Helena), Joan, Linda (Kelly), as well as grandchildren Noel, Danielle (James), Peter, Kevin (Nicole), David (Nadia), and great grandchild Matthew. Frances was a member of the Catholic Women’s League at Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, having come from an Irish Catholic family in which religion was a central focus of life. For many years she was an Administrative Assistant for the Ministry of Natural Resources, Fisheries’ Branch. Frances and James enjoyed travelling throughout North America as well as spending quality time with their children at the family cottage. The visitation, funeral mass and reception will all take place at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home on Monday October 3rd, (entrance at 211 Langstaff Road East).

I was so shocked to see the notice in the Star on Saturday. My condolences to the family. Mrs Heffernan is now with Mr. Heffernan in heaven. She lived a long life. My God bring comfort to all those who will miss them both.
It is still hard to accept that two of our senior club members, Jim and Frances passed away in a span of a week. Frances in particular was the quiet one, speaks in a low tone and mild mannered. She was always ready to help when I joined the carpet bowling team, giving out advice and tips so newcomers can be a better bowler. She was strong willed , passionate and dedicated to our group that she would participate and join us even when she was so weak, so weak that we have to help her stand up so she can throw the bowling ball….She was one of a kind, so loyal and loving, that Frances and Jim were inseparable even to the last moment. Our sincere condolence to the Heffernan family…..and to JIM and FRANCES …..MAY YOU REST IN PEACE….
My sincere condolences to the Heffernan Family on the passing of Frances. May she Rest In Peace.
I met Frances at the Seniors Club at Our Lady of Fatima Church Hall in January, 2009 where she carpet bowled. Both Frances and Jim were long time members of the club. Like Jim, Frances was an excellent bowler.
Over the years our little group of carpet bowlers spent a couple of
very enjoyable hours together every Thursday afternoon. Unlike Jim, who liked being the instructer and adviser, Frances kept a low profile.
Unfortunately, as the years passed, it became more difficult for her to continue bowling, she decided it was time to call it quits, She was very much missed. Although Jim continued coming to the bowling, it was not the same without Frances
