Obituary
elevated oNmMW It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our Mum, Joan Philomena Thomas, on October 1, 2022 in Toronto, after a long struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Joan is predeceased by her parents, Victor and Bernadette, her son, Gordon, our dad, Noel, our step-dad, Douglas, and her sister Dorothy (Dolly). She is survived by her sons, Nigel (Dale), Derek and Glenn (Keith), grandchildren: Elijah, Joshua, Noah and Jacob; step daughters Denise and Michele and beloved sister Yvonne.
elevated oNmMW Our parents came to Canada in 1968 to ensure a better future for their family. They instilled in us a sense of kindness, integrity, community and loyalty with lots of fun and laughter along the way. It was immediately evident to anyone who visited, that our home was full of love, warmth, joy and delicious aromas. Her love for cooking was always evident at every occasion but especially at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas (she made the best fruitcake ever!) No one ever left hungry or thirsty. Her wit, charm and silly sense of humour was matched only by her love of family. She loved us unconditionally and was the ultimate mama bear to her bear cubs!
elevated oNmMW Mum, Joannie, Mama, you will be missed more than you know!

Our deepest sympathies to all the family and Yvonne. Joan will be missed by all, but now her pain and suffering are all over and is in a better place. May she rest in peace.
Our deepest condolences to the family and extended family.
Joan was a beautiful person, kind, caring, generous, funny and loving.
She endured many challenges in life, but she had an unwavering spirit. She is now in a beautiful resting place.
May God grant her peace and may he grant the family comfort and peace during this sad time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you,
