Obituary
elevated gT9Ol It is with great sadness that we announce that Giovanni (John) Franciosa passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill.
elevated gT9Ol John was born in Toronto. He graduated from Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Class of ’78. That was followed by a successful career in the corrugated industry in roles spanning project management to sales in organizations both small and large, culminating in the role of President at Packaging Technologies Inc. (PTI). John also served as President of the American Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC). In his retirement, he continued to enjoy golf at Carrying Place Golf Club, making great wine and baking appetizing bread and pizzas.
elevated gT9Ol The most meaningful part of John’s life was his family – his love had no bounds. He was a devoted son to pre-deceased parents Gerardo and Antonietta Franciosa, a loving husband, an amazing Dad and Nonno and a special brother and Zio. John brought joy and laughter to every family dinner and special occasion. He has left a large hole in the lives of wife, Mona, his children Michael and Diana, Laura and Tyler and his grand-children Isabella, Sofia, Benjamin and Gwen. He will also be greatly missed by Nancy and Tony, Mary and Vito, their families and many extended family members.
elevated gT9Ol John’s friendships were very important to him. He had many friends from his elementary and high school years, the “Pals” from engineering and friends through his years playing squash and golf.
elevated gT9Ol John was highly respected in business for his integrity and his belief in people’s potential and strengths, mentoring many.
elevated gT9Ol John’s family would like to thank Dr. C. Scott and Sonya in Neurology and the Integrated Stroke Unit at Mackenzie Health’s Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Dr. Takhar and the Palliative Care Team at Mackenzie Health’s Richmond Hill Hospital for their compassionate care.

Good-bye good friend. It was a pleasure knowing you since the mid-1970s working at The Bay and more recently being part of the Saturday Duffs golf 4-some at Carrying Place. Enjoyed every minute spent with you. One of the best Friends I ever had. You will be greatly missed. 🥲
Dear John, many happy and worrying times have been shared at UofT, Chemical Engineering , always with a smile and head high with your positive vibrations coming across . Memorable times in the common room for our card parties or coffees at the greasy joint. These and many more events remain immutable in our lives, memories will persevere and so will our friendship, forever eternally, incessantly. Plenty of love from this end of the world.
Our hearts goes out to the Franciosa family and Nancy and Mary . A beautiful and fitting tribute to a wonderful man .
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief 🙏
Johnny. Rest In Peace buddy. You will be sorely missed by the satdufs and you will always be king of the pond.
John’s passing is, for us, the day the laughter died. A man of such immense goodness, depth of character and intense love for everyone that he knew, especially his beautiful family.
We are so much richer for having known him, but now so ravaged by his loss. He left this world much too soon, but did so with the grace and dignity that he carried with him all of his life.
We love and miss you deeply, John.
Laura and family, I am very sorry for your loss.
I remember Mr. Franciosa as a very kind and welcoming man. May he rest in eternal peace.

Dear Mona and Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of John’s passing. It is hard enough when expected but this must have come out of the blue. I’d enjoyed seeing your granddaughter’s Christening pictures this past July and seeing the good time you had on your cruise from Budapest to Vienna in August. It is hard to believe that this has happened.
I know that besides being an all-around great fellow, John was a devoted family man. Based on our experience, your memories of him will last long and be a comfort.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
With greatest sympathy,
Mary Ann
