My heart was broken today when I received a kind and very thoughtful call from John Corso Jr. It just didn’t occur me that I would end up outliving John Sr. given my situation.
What a wonderful man, colleague and most of all My FRIEND & OLDER BUDDY.
I will miss John sorely, as we were like two peas in a pod in many ways.
Our condolences to Donna, whom I have all the time for in the world and am so, so , sorry for her loss. He was her best friend too!
Love
Ross
p.s. I still have his copy of Joe Torres story, the Yankee Skipper for years. We had some fun with baseball. I’ll hang on to it as a memento!

Dear Donna and family (and to John Jr. who pulled on the skates and worked the bench for our BT hockey teams, as well). I was sad to hear about coach Corso’s passing this week. It did remind me, however, that he was a mentor and a motivator for everyone in his community, and I was fortunate to be one of those kids on his hockey teams and just up the street on Argonne Avenue who was in his orbit. He was a big booster of entrepreneurship and business-building, too, so whether it was to push me to help the team get that winning goal or – a bit later – start my own business, I can still hear his raspy voice of encouragement, and for that I’m forever grateful. God Bless.
I saw the obit in The Montreal Gazette and thought this has to be the same John Corso who was my supervisor at Bell Canada in the sixties.
As an aside my mother grew up across the street from his mother and her family in the Papineau area of Montreal.
Many years later they met on a bus and caught up on their lives. How interesting that both their children worked at Bell except my mom was already familiar with the name John Corso. Recently I had come home raving about a new supervisor who had actually told me to leave early because he knew it was an important holiday for me (Rosh Hashonah) . This tells you a lot about his upbringing and the man he was.
May his memory be a blessing, my condolences to the family
I was very sad to read the obituary in todays Gazette….
I knew John from his P.S.Ross days in Montreal with Tony Mizgala.
John was a very responsible business person, “un chic type” as we say in Quebec….a good guy!
Also, through my mother Margherita Starnino, a distant relative.
sincerest condolences to Donna & family,Angelo Botter.
Dear Marion, john, Andrea and families.I am so sorry for your loss. My own and my families deepest condolences at this difficult time . I have wonderful memories of our earlier games and time together as young children playing tinkertoy and Meccano.
May he rest in peace.
Dear Donna, John Jr and Andrea. Please receive our condolences for a man I was just starting to know. Although we are cousins, we did not have the opportunity to get together in the recent years. We exchanged information on our past relatives and thanks to John, I got to know where my grand-father came from. I got some precious pictures and, if you stumble on any information on our ancestors, it would be nice to forward it to me. Regards to all.

To Donna and the family
I was so sorry to read of John’s death in the Montreal Gazette today.
I worked with John at P.S.Ross x& Partners for several years and kept in touch for quite a while afterwards. I greatly liked and admired him for his kindness, his professionalism and his sense of humour. We lost touch a few years after the move to Toronto but I remember him fondly.
Please accept my sincere condolences
My father, Archie McCallum, and Mr Corso were colleagues in the pulp and paper industry, years ago. While my Dad passed away past year, he always spoke kindly of his old friend, John. As a child, I took great delight in visiting the Corso’s for dinner with my parents. Their apartment building had an indoor swimming pool, and I always thought this was so very swish. I now live in Westmount, not far from their old apartment building. I think of Mr. & Mrs. Corso every time I pass by, and smile. Cheers.
Can dear Marion, John Andrea and families. I am very sorry for your loss. My and my families deepest condolences at this difficult time. I have wonderful memories of our games and time together as young children making Tinkertoy and Meccano towers and bridges.
Rest in peace cousin.

Dearest Donna, John Jr.,Andrea, Darren and family,
To say we are so saddened by the passing of John , is of course a gross understatement.
The loss of a dear friend cannot be qualified.
John and the Corso family have been an integral part of our lives since we met some ten years ago: each year filled to capacity with moments that we then shared, and are now as memories to continue to be shared.
John was always the quiet voice of reason, able to solve seemingly complicated problems with a warm smile and a soft gentle attitude.
How we will so miss that!
The Corso family, loved and treasured so much by John, has suffered a terrible loss by his passing, but I know that they will draw strength from the wonderful memories of John that they hold so dearly.
We shall all try to do so.
Love,
Larry and Andrea.
We were fortunate to enjoy John and Donna’s company on many occasions over the years. We know how proud John was of his family.
He was truly a fine gentleman. Our sincere condolences,
Paul and Bunny Zaza
John was an exceptional mentor and wise board member of Southdown. He was also a dear friend whom I will miss dearly. My prayers are with Donna and his entire family as we all mourn the loss of such a faith-filled, dedicated man.
I have so many fond memories of being a part of the Corso household. Mr. Corso always made me feel welcome – and was always there with a good story and sound advice. He guided and influenced so many lives truly making the world a better place for everyone he touched.
Mr. Corso lived a life to be honored, cherished and celebrated.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
I was very sorry to hear the news of John’s passing from my parents. May you find solace in the many good memories that you share.
Dear Andrea, Darren, Matthew, Ellie and families,
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with all of you during this very difficult time.

Donna, John and Andrea, our sincere condolences on your loss. Bless you all. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Greetings Donna and family.
It was with no small sense of regret and sorrow that I just read of your husband’s death R.I.P. I hasten to send my condolences and those of the Presentation Brothers to you and family. I will remember him at my Mass here at Presentation Manor tomorrow morning. Be assured of my prayers for you and family as the days go on. Both John and you were so helpful to the Presentation Brothers when we first arrived at Brebeuf College High School. We will be for ever grateful to both of you for all the assistance you rendered to us. Be assured of our prayers for your support in your great loss.
Donna, John and Andrea: We were all saddened to hear of John’s passing. But along with the sorrow that comes with loss we remember so many happy times, friendship and laughter. “The pain of grief is just as much part of life as the joy of love: it is perhaps the price we pay for love.”
Donna, John and Andrea. I met John many years ago when we were hiring a senior executive. John was amazing. So understated yet when he spoke I always listened. My father died when I was 22 so saw him as a father figure. And it was terrific to get to know your son starting when he was just graduating high school. More recently we did not have regular contact but his support and energy was always there. My life was very much enriched by having John in my life.
Dearest Andrea and Family,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you go through these difficult times. May his soul rest in eternally peace.
Marisa, Sierra and Family

My sincerest sympathy in the passing of ‘cousin Johnny’ – as he was referred to always by my mother.

I pray that these difficult times will be made a bit easier with the wonderful memories of a delightful man.
Our hearts are with you.
Much love,
André
