Passed away on January 4, 2023, just shy of his 73rd birthday, at the Credit Valley Hospital. George was a beloved husband to Theresa, devoted father to Audrey (Jimmy) and Michelle (Scott). He will be dearly missed by his older sister, Stella, younger brother, Lourdo, sister-in-law Desiree, godson Dylan, as well as the extended Fernandes and Lobo families. Memories with “Appa” will be forever cherished by his grandchildren Hailey, Ethan and Aria.
Born in Goa, India on January 6, 1950 to Alex “Anthony” Fernandes and Angelina Fernandes (nee Lobo), George left India to pursue a career in banking in Dubai, UAE eventually settling in Canada with his wife and daughters. There are few things he enjoyed more than writing, singing, and good food. As a child his passions included organizing school performances and singing in church choirs. As an adult, he found joy in arranging family gatherings and contributing to work social events. His work colleagues became his second family, who he missed very much following retirement.
The family would like to thank the staff at Credit Valley Hospital for their care over the last several years. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Care would be appreciated.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation and funeral service. A private burial (close family only) will follow.

Bro.George and myself passed out from Holy Name school in Bombay. We and our ex-students had a reunion lunch this past summer. We both were same school batch. Sad to hear his demise. Rest in Peace Brother.
So sad to hear about the demise of dear Georgie!. He was a true gentleman- so kind, loving, humble, ever helpful, a family man. An ever smiling person. I still vividly remember his soulful rendition of ‘Mother of Mine’ during his early visit to Rly colony, Ahmedabad- it was so touching.
