Maria was a strong, resilient, and courageous fighter till the end. She peacefully passed away on February 15, 2023 with family by her side. She leaves behind her loving parents Margherita and Giovanni, her sisters Pina (Dan Stirling), and Roberta, her cherished niece Victoria (Anthony), nephew Jason (Sian) and the joy of her life, her great niece Emilia.
Maria will be incredibly missed by her many, many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, Maria asked that donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her honour.

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
From the beginning…to the end
He noted that first came the date of birth And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
Know what that little line is worth
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars… the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering this special dash
Might only last a little while
So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash…

Maria used her dash to the fullest to live, love, laugh with family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten.
Maria was a lovely lady. I met her when she worked at Maple Health Centre. We shared a room on a trip to the Dominican. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. We were friends on Facebook and I saw that she was a busy lady and had so many friends. She will be missed.
I will always love you, Maria. ❤️ You are so deeply missed. 🙏💔

Maria, thank you for your unwavering friendship for over the last 45 + years. I remember every memory so vididly and I can still hear you laughing at all my stupid jokes. Our long talks on the phone, reminising of all the old times and discussing what our futures would hold. You were there for every special moment in my life celebrating or providing your words of encouragement. I still can’t believe you are in Heaven. You took a piece of my heart with you and I will miss you so much my friend! Your bravery and fight will live on in my mind forever.
