elevated muI2b Obituary
elevated muI2b Marcelle (Abou Asaly) Mouaket, the cornerstone of our family, left this world to join God’s Angels on the morning of Saturday, March 11th, 2023. She lived to be 80 and was survived by her loving husband of 44 years Ibrahim and sons Loutfi and Sami.
elevated muI2b Marcelle graduated from the Beirut College for Women with a degree in Economics and Political Science and wanted to have a positive impact on the world pursuing a career in social and charitable services. She was selected by the International YWCA to develop leadership skills in Switzerland and Canada before returning to Beirut to run the YWCA there. She would ultimately relocate to Canada and headed programming at the Arab Community Center in Toronto, where she met Ibrahim. Marcelle then became the program director at St. Christopher’s House and subsequently lead the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s fundraising activities in York Region.
elevated muI2b She put her career on hold, to place her sons at the center of her life. She was a strong and thoughtful mother with great drive, that had a magnetic energy and presence. She defied many health challenges over the years motivated by wanting to remain part of her family’s life, to care for and guide them. She was very social and loved engaging with people to share what she knew and to learn from others. She was proud to be “intelligently opinionated.”
elevated muI2b In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross (Lebanon Humanitarian Needs Appeal) here or to Marcelle’s church St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

Condolences.
I’m thinking of my dear friend, Marcelle, on this first day of Spring – she loved flowers of every color and her garden was a peaceful oasis that bloomed extravagantly all summer long. We spent many happy hours there. Marcelle met life with a joyful embrace and a fierce will that made things happen. Deeply intelligent, she also knew how to challenge herself and work her way through life’s complexities . I loved being around Marcelle and will miss her joyful presence, especially now that Spring has arrived and we can no longer sit together in her beautiful garden. My heartful condolences to her husband, Ibrahim, and her two precious sons, Lou and Sami. Rest in peace, dear Marcelle.
