elevated 9v2Hg Ordained to the priesthood in 1955, Father Bean served the parishes of St. Brigid (Toronto) and St. Margaret (Midland) before his appointment as Librarian to St. Augustine’s Seminary. In later years his career path led to teaching and academic administration at Ryerson University.
elevated 9v2Hg Son of the late Gordon Alva Bean Sr. and the late Josephine Rousselle Bean, he will be remembered by his sister in law Mary Cummings Bean of Peterborough, and his nephews; William Douglas Bean of Bridgenorth, Gordon Alan Bean of Edmonton, Geoffrey Wade Bean of Peterborough and 11 grand nieces and nephews.

I remember when we’d come to Toronto and we would be out on one of the many boat’s you acquired over the years always anchored on the island, feeding the ducks off the back. Many fond memories. Will be missed.
Gordon was my Mom’s cousin. Every family reunion there was always a required “ Cousins Picture” taken before everyone dispersed back to their homes. We have snaps of Gordon and the cousins before they were teenagers and snaps of cousins long past 75! Gordon was a kind and gentle man, always eager to talk about the family, what all the kids were doing, where everyone was living and how they were all getting along. As the family historian he kept our births and deaths recorded and published a little book for each of us. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by all his family. ❤️
Gordon was a valued colleague back in our days at Ryerson. When I arrived as a rookie faculty member he was quick to provide encouragement and support. Gordon was friendly, thoughtful, and kind, never uttering a bad word to or about anyone. It was a pleasure to share the Ryerson journey with him. Condolences to Gordon’s family and friends.
Marie and I are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Fr .Gordon Bean .
In a phone conversation in December ,Gordon told us of his failing health. We reminisced at length about the many loves we shared, boating, musical theatre and his little cabin built in the 1960’s which still stands on the property on Woods Bay where we now have our family home.
Gordon was a great friend to my parents and to us, He was smart, witty and delightful company . We will remember fondly the many good times we shared. I will always think of Gordon as my mentor.
We love you and miss you Gordon, Rest in Peace.
Gordon was a kind and gentle individual who loved to tell stories, about his life, his family, and his adventures. There were many wonderful days on his boats, cruising in Lake Ontario, dining at the dock at the Outer Harbour Marina, or at anchor on the Island, and Christmas celebrations at his condominium. He has left his friends many happy memories. Enjoy your new journey, Gordon.
Gordon and I were colleagues in Continuing Education (The Chang School) at Ryerson University (Toronto MU). He had boundless energy and enthusiasm and applied it to everything he did. As an administrator, he was very knowledgeable and well respected. As a colleague, he was a kind, generous and respectful gentleman.
He enjoyed talking and laughing about his many interests outside of work. I had the pleasure of cruising Lake Ontario as an invited guest on his boat on a couple of summer evenings. I was a bit afraid of boats but he made the experience a lot of fun.
It had been many years since I had spoken to Gordon but he came to mind and I searched to see how I might get in touch with him to say hello. Sadly, I discovered that he had recently passed away. However, it was wonderful to see that he had close family ties and that he spent his retirement doing the things that brought him joy.
I extend my deepest condolences to Gordon’s family.

I’m sorry to hear of Gordon’s passing. He was a valued colleague and a good friend. I have great memories of sailing with him and my young kids swimming off the end of his boat. There are many qualities that are not noted in his obituary, but they were part of the wonderful person we knew. We were very lucky to know Gordon.
