elevated GpQAS Obituary
elevated GpQAS It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Chu-Wah Yan. God called onto Thomas on Saturday, May 20, 2023 and he passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at St. Michael’s hospital in Toronto. He is survived by his beloved wife Rose Huk-Woon Yan. Loving father of George Yan (Christine McGraw-Yan) and David Yan (Rosemary Chan). Cherished grandfather of Mackenzie McGraw-Yan, Jordan Yan, Kelsey McGraw-Yan and Justin Yan. Thomas will be dearly missed by all his extended family and friends. He was always an incredibly upbeat, positive and cheerful person. Thomas treated everyone he encountered equally, with a genuine warmth and friendliness that radiated from his heart. May he rest in peace.

Having known Mr. Yan for over 40 years first as a father of a good friend and later as a patient, I will always remember him as the persistent jogger who passes our house daily, an intrepid traveller, and a father and grandfather who loved his family. Before COVID interrupted our regular clinic visits, we would always take sometime to talk about his latest travels, his family, and mine, but then he must hurry out of the clinic because Mrs. Yan is waiting in the car downstairs. I will miss his distinctive voice/accent. May he rest in peace
I didn’t know Mr. Yan, but the best of evidence of a man’s legacy are his children, and I’ve known David over 20 years. No doubt, David derived many of his great qualities from his father – a generation that lead by example, not by words. My sincerest condolences to the entire Yan family.
We send our sincerest condolences to Auntie Rose and the Yan family.
My husband and I got to know Uncle Tom and Auntie Rose around 20 years ago on a trip to Jiuzhaigou in China. We then met up whenever they visited HK. Uncle Tom was so energetic, upbeat and full of wisdom and sense of humour. Of course Covid has interrupted everyone’s routine and we haven’t met for some time.
I will always remember Uncle Tom’s smile and his signature vest. May he rest in peace and he will be in our prayers.
We’re most saddened by the news, our sincere condolences to Rose and the family. We first came to know Thomas and Rose in a tour in Quilin, China, and became good friends ever since although we live far apart. We made a very enjoyable and memorable trip to Qingtao and Taishan together in 2012. Thomas was a very warm and caring person, full of energy and knowledgeable. Sharing a common last name, I always look upon him as my elder brother and guardian.
May you rest in peace Thomas, we miss you.
Condolences from our family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
As a neighbour of Cliffwood community, I could see Thomas every sunny day in summer at his front yard for taking care of his garden or garage for more than 20 years. We always had a nice chat about life and philosophy. After moving out of Toronto, we still have contact in these years. It is really a regret and shocking news to me and my family. Thomas will stay in our memory and we wish him have a peaceful life in heaven.
Thinking of the Yan family. I did not know Mr. Yan personally, however, I have known David and his family for many years. They are a wonderful family and talked about Mr Yan and his kindness and positivity often. Heartfelt condolences
I miss seeing Mr. Yan jogging and waving to me with a big smile in his blue and grey jacket, even in the rain, cold, and snow. I miss when we crossed paths and stopped to say hello on a beautiful day like today. I will always see his smile and hear his voice. My heart is heavy to hear the sad news, but I will always feel his light-hearted spirit. May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences to the Yan family.
May Mr. Yan’s memory be a comfort and blessing to his family and friends. Our condolences to the Yan family.

I met Mr. Yan while in high school shortly after moving to Toronto where I knew no one. He was always friendly and welcoming and throughout the years whenever we met he was always interested in how things were going. He loved to travel, and I aspire to his level of travel and spirit of adventure. My condolences to Mrs. Yan, George, David and their families.
