It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Silvana Pezzi-Catalano on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the age of fifty-seven. Beloved wife of 27 years to Lorenzo, Loving mother to Nikki and wife Maddy, Christian and wife Samantha, Cherished daughter of Rosvelt and the late Lidia Pezzi, Precious sister to Agatha and husband Maurizio, and Giovanni and fiancée Gia. Beloved sister-in-law to Catherine and Tony Mercuri, Joe and Claudia Catalano and Vita and Ben Macerola.
elevated wzLWy Silvi was a loving and encouraging Zia to all her nieces and nephews, Stefanie, Sam, Julia, Daniela, Victoria, Julian, Angelina and Gianina. She will also be sadly missed by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, both in Canada and Italy.
elevated wzLWy Silvi was born in Torano Castello, Cosenza, Italy in January 1966 and immigrated to Canada at just 7 months old with her mother and older sister, to join their father, who had arrived six months earlier. In 1968, her younger brother Giovanni was born, making the family complete.
elevated wzLWy The foundation of Silvi’s life was a strong spiritual faith grounded in kindness, compassion, and love. This allowed her to live her life with a sense of eternal joy and an uncanny ability to be fully present in every conversation and activity. Family was always a priority and she provided for her husband and children a rich environment filled with laughter, encouragement and boundless love.

Words cannot express how much we miss you. You have enriched our lives in so many ways and inspired me throughout the years of knowing you. Dearest Silvi, I can’t believe I am writing this. You were an inspiration to anyone that new you. Your friendship thru out the years will be held in my heart for eternity. I will miss you terribly. My heart goes out to you and your family, I cannot imagine the pain and heartache that you must be feeling but I know that Silvi is in a better place. She was truly strong compassionate, and warm-hearted to all of those around her. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that we are all here for you.

devastating. Take comfort in knowing that she is no longer

Silvi, until we see each other again, I will continue to remember, with a smile almost as glorious as yours, the fun times at our group get togethers. Our deepest condolences to the Catalano family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time. Silvi’s memory will always be cherished in our hearts.
Silvi has been a wonderful presence in the lives of the Rutherfords for almost 15 years. First together as dance parents, then overseeing our sons’ budding dance and personal friendship (we both inherited a “new son” ), and then lastly and beautifully as we witnessed the wonderful growing relationship and then marriage of Christian and Sammy. In the last we became related as “out-laws” (parents in law ☺️) and cried with the realization. Never did we realize sitting in the dance theatre all those years ago that we would be together as parents-in-law. What a blessing!
The world has heaved a sigh in sadness at the loss of Silvi, but her spirit lives on in all of us whose lives she so magically touched.
Thank you for what you gave the world Silvi. You are an Angel.
