elevated FC5go It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Francesca Longarini (nee Lorenzetti) on September 15, 2023 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her husband Gordon (d. July 3, 1974), as well as her sister Maria and brother Bruno. Francesca was a loving mother to Cathy (Mario) and Larry (Janet). Devoted nonna to Joseph (Caroline), Diane (Steven), and Michelle (Anthony) and adored bis-nonna to Sophia, Christopher and Alyssa.
elevated FC5go Born in Fossombrone, Italy, she came to Canada in 1951. She arrived by boat with her mother at Pier 21 in Halifax. She always said that the boat ride was the adventure of her life. Her children took her back 65 years later to retrace her arrival. While she had a wonderful life in Canada, her heart was always in Fossombrone. She was fortunate to be able to return to visit on multiple occasions.
elevated FC5go Francesca had a passion for gardening and loved her tomatoes, both watching them grow, but especially eating them. She loved to spoil her family and friends with Marchigiane specialties and was renowned for her crescia (white pizza).
elevated FC5go Francesca died peacefully in her sleep befitting for a woman who graced our lives with her big heart, love, kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness.
elevated FC5go In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Vaughan or to the Canadian Blood Services in Francesca’s honour.
Cathy and Larry and family, our sincere condolences on Francesca’s passing. She was such a remarkable and kind woman and always a joy to be around. I will always remember her crescia di pasqua. She will be missed and is now reunited with Gordy and all of her family and friends who have gone before her.
