Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Domenico Tarea on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Cortelucci Vaughan Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elisa and his children Sergio (Tina), Gabriel, and Patrizia (Gaetano). He was a proud grandfather to Luca, Cristian, Claudia, and Alessio. Domenico was also a caring brother to Teresa, Giuseppina, and the late Maria.
elevated diTrw At the young age of twenty, with hope for a better future, he left Abruzzo, Italy for Toronto. In Toronto, he found work and success in the construction industry. He then married Elisa and raised three children together. Domenico was dedicated to his family and he ensured that they wanted for nothing.
elevated diTrw Domenico cherished being in the company of his family, relatives and friends, while sharing a meal, drinking a glass of vino, and having a cigarette on the porch. Domenico, salute e sarai sempre nei nostri cuori!
Signora Tarea, Patricia, Gabriel, Sergio and families, we are deeply saddened to hear of your loss and sending heartfelt condolences. Deep sorrow brings such darkness and it seems there is no way through, but hopefully your fond memories will bring the brightness you need to strengthen and comfort you. May God give you peace, and our prayers and condolences also offer comfort to help ease your pain. While a good heart has stopped beating, a great soul has ascended to Heaven. From the few times we had the opportunity to visit with him, we will remember his smile and his love of company around a table…so kind and welcoming. Always keep him alive in your heart with your stories, life lessons, photos and sweet memories. Hope you feel the outpouring of love that surrounds all of you. Holding you all close in our hearts. Thank you so much for your message and kind words about our dad. They are very comforting and your support means so much to us during this difficult time.
I have such fond memories of Uncle Dominic. I remember lovely visits with Dominic, Elisa, my parents and all of the children. I recall the warm hospitality and quiet laughter. I have a vivid childhood memory of meeting Sergio as a newborn, and seeing the proud look on Uncle Dominic’s face.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Elisa and Family:
My deepest condolences at the loss of Domenico. I have fond memories of Domenico since I was a little girl and he would come to Port Colborne to visit. He always made it a point to greet me sweetly and can still hear his words in my mind. Bella Cumaruccia Franca cuma sti? To a little child these things stay in your mind that a grownup had paid attention to you and made you feel just as special as the adults. ❤️ I remember fondly… him, my mother and my uncles sitting around the table reminiscing about their young days in Italy and cherishing their memories. As an adult whenever there were weddings or get togethers he still always made it a point to ask me how I was and even after my mother died, he always made sure to ask about my father. He was a kind, gentle, nice man and I know that now he is reunited with my parents, aunts and uncles and I am sure they are now again talking about their memories of Italy and Canada. May you find the strength to get thru this sad time but know that you have wonderful memories of him. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless. Sincerely,
