Many fond memories of Paul Our deepest condolences to you Janice, Mario and family. We are thinking of you all
My sincere sympathy to Paul’s family. I had the pleasure to coach Paul during his years with the Windsor Spitfires. Paul’s final year in the OHL was also my final year after 19 years with the Spits. As I think about that final season, Paul was a very important player on a team that pulled off a huge upset in the 1st round of the playoffs. His play on the ice was a big reason why we became a solid team in the 2nd half of the season. He also became an integral part of our leadership group that mentored our younger players.
I am extremely sad to hear of his passing at a very young age but I am very happy that I had the opportunity to coach and become a friend of Paul.
Dave Prpich
Windsor Spitfires Coach

I am so sad to hear the news of Paul’s passing. We met just over 10 years ago while playing ball in the USPL. A “Gentle Giant” he was. Always up for a quick conversation before and after the game, and always greeted you with a smile. He was an incredibly kind person that loved his family & friends dearly.
My condolences to the entire Giallonardo family during this most difficult time.
RIP Pauly G you will be missed 💔

As we normally do around unionville after hockey a few of the boys were at Jakes when we heard the sad devastating news. Pauly G would often come in after he spent the day coaches the kids.. he was a tremendous athlete on and off the ice, great friend and positive influence on many but mostly the kids in Markham/ Unionville. He will never be forgotten ♥
On behalf of my family please accept our sincere condolences and love to Janice, Mario, and Daniella …all relatives, so many friends and colleagues, teammates 💙 ❤ 💔

Mike, Sharon and Family
Sending our sincere condolences to all of the Giallonardo family. Paul will be dearly missed by many and we are honoured to have known him. Mario and Janice, you raised a wonderful young man. Gone to soon. Thinking of you all.
Paul John Giallonardo- aka- Paulie G, aka- Senor Smoke, aka- Handsome Boy but above all what Paul should, and will best be known as…our friend.
Paulie and I have known each other since we were 6 years old growing up in Unionville just a few streets apart. Paul and I played hockey in the winter and baseball in the summer. If we weren’t on the ice or on the diamond, we were playing Mini sticks in the basement at 140 Aitken Circle or 39 Ferndall with a bunch of the other boys. Paulie was the epitome of a gentle giant, but don’t fool yourself – when someone had issues with his friends, he was always the one guy to have your back. That’s what was so great about Paul; he was always there for his friends. As we grew older, softball and beers in the parking lot or beer tent was one of his favourite things, just being together with everyone. Driving up north to softball tournaments, which felt like happened every weekend, were epic adventures. I remember asking Paulie once Sunday during a tournament in Dorchester if we may have been over served the night before, and Paul responding by passing me a Coors Light at 9am….
Derek: Paul, I can’t, I need to be sober for this Sunday’s Championship run!
Paul: Q, how many tounemtns have we played in?
Derek: A lot!
Paul: And how do we normally fare?
Derek: Pretty good to be honest
Paul: Annnnnnd are we not buzzed while we play and win?
Derek: Good point buddy. Give me the beer. 😊
That was Paulie, always sharing Lombardi type pep talks when you needed it.
Paulie loved hanging with the boys, having a few at the Arms and maybe even a late-night Bowl Kee run for anyone that was willing for some spicy shrimp.
Paulie was also an amazing uncle as anyone could see, even from a distance, if you observed him at the ball diamonds.
The special bond shared was not just with Paulie, but with the entire ‘G’ family. We spent numerous family trips to Notre Dame and Michigan to cheer on our Irish. My heart breaks for this amazing family as they raised a proud, smart, and very kind man and this loss is beyond immense.
There are so many great memories that we shared together and those, I will keep with me forever.
It looks like our buddy T-Day needed a #4 power bat with a vacuum glove at 3rd base for the softball team he is assembling in heaven.
Paulie G was my dear friend, and I will miss him very much. Gone but NEVER, EVER, forgotten.
Love you buddy.
Dear Janice, Mario and Daniella:
We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your son and brother Paul.
I have great memories of coaching Paul in baseball and watching him work behind the plate. He was a fine athlete and even better person.
Please accept our heartfelt sympathies at this most difficult time.
John and Brenda Stollar
We wanted to send our condolences. Paul was a great guy and will be sadly missed. We both have great memories of times with him at the pride as well as the ball field. His smile and great personality will be sadly missed.
RIP PAUL
Dear Janice, Mario, Daniella, Anthony, Lucca, and Stella,
Our deepest condolences to you all. We are devastated for your family. As you are well aware, Paulie was a larger than life figure – both literally and figuratively. The void he leaves will never be filled, but please know we will always remember him and honour his memory. For us, Paulie will always be the cool, fun, caring Uncle, and one hell of a tough hockey player. He will be missed. May his memory be eternal.

I was so saddened when a phone call came from Robbie to tell me about the passing of Pauly. So devastating to hear this. We have so many fond memories of Paul, some of the dearest were when we went to Moscow with our Markham Islander team and then when we played in a tournament at Michigan State!!! G, I cannot even imagine how you, Janice and Daniella are dealing with this unbelievable loss. Please know that prayers and love are being poured into your family from the Hisey family. Such a gentle guy and a great team mate!

Memories that come at this incredibly sad time ,seem like yesterday. Mine was taking a frightened looking knee high Paul and his cousin to a Calgary museum, and over the years , me becoming knee high to this well adjusted man. So sorry for this incredible loss.

Our sincere condolences to the Giallonardo family.
May Paul rest in peace.
“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” (Chuck Palahniuk) And what an enduring legacy Paul leaves in the hearts and minds of his family and in his outstanding dedication as both a hockey player and coach to many youngsters. Still as author Mitch Albom wrote so poignantly, “There is no fair in life and death. If it were, no good men would die young.” We will miss Paul forever.
Mario and family, no words can describe this loss my heart goes out to all of so sorry to hear of Paul John’s passing
Sending sincere condolences to your family at this devastating time. May you find comfort knowing he touched so many lives with his gifts in a very short time.

Dear Janice and Mario,
We’re deeply saddened by the loss of your wonderful son Paul. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I got to know Paul in a short period of time he had presence and passion for life and especially hockey. I would test him with my hockey trivia and I would fail every time. He would smirk and then we would both laugh. A great employee and an even better person. He will be missed and I am grateful for the period of he shared with me. Words are never enough to describe feelings of condolences for your loss. His memory will live on in our family and his work family. We will honour his memory forever.
My sincere condolences to you all, such a tough time to lose a young one. My thoughts are with all of you.
Such a terrible loss to a fine young man, way too soon.. Our condolences to the entire family. Rest in peace, Pauly G..
The Steane Family
Dear Mario, Janice and Daniella. It was a privilege to be associated with Paul during his 4 year OHL career with the Spitfires, as well as his professional career in Italy. Every where Paul went he represented his team, his community, and in particular his family, in a first class manner. He was a great teammate and friend to everyone who had the pleasure of playing with him. As big and strong of a competitor as he was, he always put the team and teammates ahead of himself. I was thrilled to see him pass on his personal principles and values to an entire generation of young hockey players in his role as an elite minor hockey coach and mentor. On behalf of his many teammates and friends in Windsor and Alleghe (Italy), please accept our sincerest condolences! Mike Kelly, former Spitfire and Alleghe General Manager
My deepest condolences to the entire family and friends for the loss of a wonderful man. I had the honour of meeting Paul and briefly working with him and will remember him as a polite gentle giant with a kind smile. A life cut too short yet filled with positive interactions wherever he went. Paul will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Giallonardo’s during this very difficult time. Paul (Pauly G as I knew him) will be missed by many. Indeed a gentle giant, with a sparkle in his eye and a warmth in his smile. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in the days ahead.
With love,
Colleen Power & Cam Krempulec
A really nice guy who gave way more than he took
My heart goes out to you Janice, Mario and Daniella. No parent should have to go through what you went through with Paul’s illness. I can’t imagine what you’re all going through right now. Paul’s pain and suffering is over, but his family and friend’s pain is just beginning. Hopefully one day there will be a cure for cancer and nobody will have to go through what Paul went through.
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Paulie G. (as my sons called him) and we have lost one of the good guys. My sons Emmanuel and Bobby both had the pleasure of working with Paulie G. with the Waxers Development Team and also to share his hockey skills with them. I had the privelige of playing softball with Paulie G. in the URSPL and will be remembered for his positive attitude, infectious smile and looking forward to beers after the game. The Unionville community and Waxers hockey community will not be the same without Paulie G. You will be missed.

Regards,
Pierre, Emmanuel and Bobby.

All the sincere words of love keep pouring to a young man so well thought of and respected by all that had the blessing of meeting and touched by his humility, class and gentleness. My son Jayden was by Paul’s side during their school years and always spoke of how special of a person he was and how he left his mark that would always be remembered and last a lifetime, to live forever in our hearts and memories. I always told my children your reputation walks thru the door before you do so make sure it’s the way you want people to look at you, I’m sure Paul overheard it because his was sterling, please rest peacefully our dear boy.
Dear Mario, Janice and Daniella, I met Paul when he was a student at St. Matthew’s. He was a pleasure to teach and coach. He always gave his best and he was always smiling. A great guy! My heartfelt condolences.

My family and I would like to express our deepest and most sincere condolences to your family. I had the privilege and honour of being Paul’s athletic therapist with the Windsor Spitfires. G came into his rookie year and his rookie training camp with a great attitude and a great sense of humor. I swear he was always smiling. We had a lot of good laughs and a lot of good times and he will certainly be missed. God bless.
So sad to hear about Paul. Was a pleasure watching Paul with the Windsor Spitfires. Condolences to family and friends. Rest In Peace.

Mario & Janice,
I am so sad to hear about Paul’s passing. I’m thinking of you and your family at this time.
I remember Paul attending our Markham Waxers practices when Mario was our coach. We all looked up to Paul (literally & figuratively) as aspiring young hockey players. I remembering the whole team going to watch him play as a Spitfire.
I also have fond memories of the Father Son softball tournaments in Unionville. I was lucky enough to play on a team with Mario and Paul, it was always one of the highlights of my summer all getting together on the field and in the beer tent after the games.
Would like to send my deepest condolences. Paul will be missed by many.

Mario, Janice and the Giallonardo family, please accept our deepest condolences. Wishing you comfort, strength and courage as you move through this difficult time.

Mario, Janice, Daniella Anthony, Luca and Stella,
We have been so lucky and blessed to know Paul from birth and to see him grow into the amazing, athletic, friendly, responsible, caring, young man that he had become, while giving back to others using his skills to teach younger kids the game he so enjoyed and excelled at. Knowing Paul, you knew the Giallonardo family, their family values and togetherness.
Paul will be truly missed by us and all who knew him. Treasure your memories, We will!
My deepest condolences to you and your family. It was an honour to have met Paul and had the opportunity to briefly work with him. A kind soul tragically taken too soon. May he rest in peace and be never forgotten.
Dear Janice, Mario, Daniella,
My sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time. I had the privilege and pleasure of coaching Paul for a number of years. We started together on a not very good peewee team all the way to an OHL Cup calibre bantam team. Paul was indeed a quiet leader on and off the ice. I was fortunate enough to continue my friendship with Paul through the years. Talk about a natural athlete – whether it was picking up a hockey stick or a bat or hitting his driver 150 yards by my drives at York Downs, he approached each sport with passion and joy. The nickname “Gentle Giant” is so appropriate but it makes sense as he had to be that big to fit the size of his heart. His kindness, compassion, humility and helpfulness to others will continue to live on with all of those people fortunate enough to have been a part of his life. If we all lived life the way that Pauly G did then the world would be in a much better place! Keeping Paul and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
Pauly G… that name was known by so many… loved and revered.
I join the many here, and countless others, who are deeply saddened by his passing.
Pauly G was kind, loyal, funny, fierce, competitive, but above all else, a great person. A friend to so many, a wonderful big brother, a fantastic son, uncle, coach, teammate… he was a good one.
Playing baseball and hockey with and against Pauly was always enjoyable (more fun with him than against him) … and he would compete to win, but always have fun, and make sure to laugh with the team after.
I’ll miss seeing his moon shots to RF … his scoops at 3… his eye smile and jokes about so many things – that handsome boy.
Trips to Niagara, Huntsville, London, and battles at Crosby on the same diamond we watched our dads play on 30 years early from the Trakel days… special memories that will last a lifetime.
Mario, Janice, Daniella, Anthony (Stella and Luca), from our family to yours, hugs and love and fond memories. We won’t forget PG, the wonderful soul and great man.
Rest in peace PG, no babies.
Ricky and the Seymour family
Sending my heartfelt deepest condolences to the entire family.
I will miss his sharp wit.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
Mario, Janice, Daniella and family, sincerest condolences on the loss of your beloved son and brother.
Both Jenna and I wanted to offer our deepest condolences to your family during this difficult time. Paul was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed. We will keep Paul and your entire family in our thoughts during this difficult time.
I remember meeting Paul for the first time on a golf course when he was only 15. I was invited out by Johnny G and Mario for an enjoyable afternoon of golf with a few colleagues. I was so surprised and impressed when I met this mature, polite and respectful young man. When it was his turn to tee off he stepped up and just crushed a shot straight down the fairway. I asked him how long he had been playing, if my memory is correct his responded with “this is my first game”. I knew right then that he would be a great athlete.
Years later I ran into Paul again more on a business level than anything else, he always remained so respectful and professional when he interacted with you. I know that was just the way he was and of course the influence of his parents. Honestly I wouldn’t have expected anything less. When I heard about how his hockey life was developing I wasn’t surprised at all, it just made me more proud of him and I knew he would excel in any opportunities that came his way…… and he did. To hear how he gave back by teaching younger players pretty much sums up the way I think he felt about what life is all about.
I was devastated when I heard the news that Paul had passed, it really makes me wonder why is it that the brightest lights have to dim so early. My heart is filled with love and prayers for the entire Giallonardo Family. God bless you all.
Angelo and I were so sorry to hear the news of your son Paul passing. We truly feel your pain. We wanted to extend our sincerest condolences to you and your family. It’s been a long while since we have seen you but we have fond memories.
On behalf of my family, our sincere condolences to your family. Paul was a great friend, teammate and opponent during our years together in Windsor and competing at university.
We had some great times at the old Windsor barn and away from it!
Gio always had a huge smile on his face and we greeted each other with Hughsys’ signature “Gio, aw ****!”
When I turned 19, he was the first person to take me to the casino. He wanted to show me his sure way to win at the table- he’d been going for 3 weeks and had it figured out.
To this day I still don’t play blackjack after watching his $120 disappear in less-than 10 mins. One hand, after losing the last 3, he split 10s with a ‘wait till you see this’ side-eye smirk. He lost $40 that hand. That was a lot of money for us. Still, he walked away from the table with a huge smile and had to show me the quarter slots. We had better luck with those!
It’s a privilege to have called Gio a friend.
-Tony
I am deeply saddened with the news of Paul’s passing. My most sincere condolences to all Paul’s family and friends.
Paul was an outstanding person and friend to all who knew him.
Sincerely,
Mike
Reading all these heartfelt messages and stories being shared about Paul makes me realize how much of an impact he had on the lives he touched.
I only knew him briefly through work but I will always remember his kind smile, positive attitude and strong spirit.
My sincere condolences to the Giallonardo family for this incredible loss. I know Paul will live in our hearts and memories forever.
Mr. and Mrs. G,
Thank you for raising an incredible son for whom I’m fortunate to call one of my oldest friends. You have always treated me as one of your own, and my entire family loved Pauly as one of ours.
I cherish the countless memories, victories and defeats on the ice, the diamond and the golf course. A gentle giant indeed, who always had my back and for that I’ll always be grateful. In our years together I had the nerve to stand up to him once – needless to say he shut that down real quick.
His passion for coaching and teaching the next generation of athletes was admirable. On tournament weekends you’d see as many kids coming up to him as adults. He no doubt has left a lasting impression on the next generation of Markham hockey players.
Tournament weekends and nights out with the boys will never be the same. He will never be forgotten, and I will miss my friend.
Rest in Peace Brother.
Tunes
Our deepest condolences to your family and friends. Our daughter Lynzey shared time with him teaching at the Dan Daoust hockey school. Gone too soon. RIP.

Mario, Janice and family,
I am so saddened to learn of Paul’s passing, this was far too soon. As a parent I cannot imagine losing a child. My heartfelt prayers are with you and your family during this very sad time.
Our deepest condolences to the Giallonardo family.
I first met Pauli G at Wednesday night ball, when the league infused some youth into the veteran affair. From the outset his skill, enthusiasm, sense of humour, and most of all kindness shone.
The light up above is even brighter now. Many will miss you Paul.
Mario, Janice and Giallonardo family,
I am terribly sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. I cannot imagine what you all must be going though but I pray that you find the strength to heal over time and find strength in each others company. In times like this, the only quote that comes to mind is “It is not the length of life, but the depth of life that matters most” hopefully you can cherish and share Paul’s happiest moments with each other to bring you strength and joy over time.
Janice, Mario and Daniella, I am so very sad to learn about Paul’s passing. My heart felt condolences for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for your family during this time. May Paul rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences to G, Janice, Daniella, Anthony, Stella and Luca. Paulie was such a great guy with a heart of gold, he was an amazing athlete who had such a passion for sports, if he wasn’t playing, he was coaching. Paulie was so fun to be around, cracking jokes while hanging with the guys at ball, and enjoying a pint or so at the beer tent. You will be missed beyond measure. Our love and prayers go out to your entire family in this time of sorrow. May you rest
Peacefully now. Love and prayers, Lari, Keith, Hayley and Kent Nakamichi 🙏🏼
Dear Janice, Mario and Daniella
There are never enough words to express the pain we share with you.
Throughout their lives our children leave permanent footprints in our hearts.
We hope that the memories of the joy he brought to your lives will sustain you during this difficult time.
Every bit of our heart goes out to you and your family.
Love Heather & John
Please accept our deepest condolences. Such a tragic loss. May you find comfort in remembering your son and reflecting on his legacy. May he rest in peace.
Coach G, Janice and family,
I’m going to remember Pauly as a mentor, a friend and a person who made me laugh constantly. I looked up to Paul and learned a lot from him on my own hockey journey.
You raised an awesome man who left an impact on a lot of those he played with and interacted with. I’m going to miss him and we wish your family all the love, support and strength knowing that Paul made so many folks happy.
Love you coach G – Josh and the Domingues family
Mario I am saddened by the news of Paul’s passing. He was a wonderful person and will be forever remembered fondly by everyone he met. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Mario, Janice, Daniella and family. So shocked and saddened to hear about Paul. Our deepest condolences.
May his memory be eternal. Chris, Debbie and the Dasios Family
So sorry to hear about your loss coach G and the rest of the Giallonardo family; being a father now I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to say goodbye to a child and my heart goes out to you all.
I will always look back fondly on the memories of Paul coming out to our practices with the Waxers while he was playing in Windsor. He was someone that the entire team looked up to then (both figuratively and literally), and someone who I personally continued to look up to when our paths crossed a few years later during our coaching careers.
Paul was extremely warm and personable, and always had a few good one liners to boot. I never had the opportunity to coach with Paul, but the feedback from his players was always overwhelmingly positive. As a competitor it was easy to see the passion he brought to his team and the friendships that he built with his players – life long lessons that will make each of them better people for having been fortunate enough to have been coached by Paul.
He will be dearly missed but never forgotten, rest in peace buddy <3
Dear Mario, Janice, and Daniella,
I am so sad to hear of the news, I am so sorry. I didn’t see him much in later years, but here’s a small “warm” memory – I saw him for a checkup when he was 12. He was concerned about being too small – so I smile when I read all the other messages here, about his accomplished hockey career and awesome coaching stories. Just like his dad, a super warm and caring guy.
Thinking of you all.
Daryl.
