Antonio Dos Santos Cameirao, known affectionately as Tony, passed away peacefully at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. Born in Gralhos, Macedo De Cavaleiros, Braganca, Portugal in 1931 and orphaned at age 12, Tony was lovingly raised by his sister Ana. He immigrated to Canada in 1966 with dreams of opening more doors for his family and generations to come. Settling in Toronto, Tony embraced his new home while maintaining a deep connection to his Portuguese roots and the rural way of life he grew up with.

elevated ba8iF His life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, positivity and family values. Tony was a devoted husband to Natividade “Nelli” Purificacao (predeceased) for 58 years, a loving relationship that stood as a pillar of strength, determination and commitment. Together, they raised their children, Mabilde (predeceased), Danny, and Andre, instilling in them the values of family and dedication. Tony now joins his beloved Nelli and Mabilde in heaven. As a father, Tony was a guiding light to Danny (Rosemary) and Andre (Anna), teaching them the importance of resilience and perseverance. His role as Avo to Michelle (Steve), Chris, Jacob, and Lucas, and as Bisavo to Jack and Bobby, was filled with warmth and joy.  He is predeceased by his parents Antonio Augusto Cameirao and Beatriz Rosa Asseiro and sisters, Maria, Ana, Alice and Lurdis.  

elevated ba8iF His family will cherish the memories of his endearing smile, infectious laugh, unwavering kindness and love for the simple pleasures of life.  He found joy in a day’s labour, gardening with Nelli, dancing to Portuguese music, buying his grandkids chocolate bars, making wine every season and sharing a meal with his family. Many a meal was a result of Nelli and Tony’s organic garden that carried them well into the late Fall. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, as a symbol of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.

elevated ba8iF Antonio Dos Santos Cameirao will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the richness he brought to the lives of those around him. The Cameirao family would like to sincerely thank Carla and Lilli for their incredible care, making Tony’s last years more comfortable.
