It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Pynisky on January 8, 2024 at age 76, reuniting in heaven with his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara-Anne Pynisky just 17 days after her passing. Adored father of Andrea (David), Paul-Allan and Sarah, cherished sister of Patricia Garbutt. Proud grandfather to Juliet. Loving uncle to: Kimberly (Travis), Jonathan (Tori), Sharon (Nigel), David (Victoria), Patrick, Ian and Rob. Dear brother-in-law of Nellie. Predeceased by his brother, Paul Pynisky.
elevated iGsjR Stephen was born in Sydney, NS and raised in Cape Breton and Toronto. He loved Nova Scotia, and kept ‘down home’ close to his heart throughout his life. Stephen worked as a commercial real estate appraiser and had interesting stories about many buildings around the city. Stephen was a gifted storyteller– he had a keen eye for detail and enthusiasm for sharing his experiences. He always ‘told it like it was’ and could add wit and humour to most any situation. He valued honesty and hard work.
elevated iGsjR Stephen enjoyed music, especially guitar. He met wife Barbara-Anne at a live music venue in Toronto. Together in 1972, they left their wedding reception early to see the Rolling Stones in concert. He liked to work on cars and could build or fix almost anything. He loved learning, especially things he could teach himself.
elevated iGsjR Stephen would say the best thing about his life was being with his children, who will cherish countless memories of road trips to Cape Breton, winter days spent at the rink, biking, game nights and holidays together. Recently, he delighted in time spent with his beloved granddaughter, Juliet. His greatest love was his family, particularly Barbara-Anne, whom he took tender care of in her final months, and whom he could not live without. His gentle spirit will be dearly missed.
