elevated 9VBB1 VALADOR, MARIA CAROLINA January 22, 1929 – June 7, 2024. God called on Maria Carolina at the age of 95. Preceded in death by her dear husband, Joseph Valador. Beloved mother of Grace Valador (Ian), Paula Valador and Peter Valador (Jacqueline). Cherished grandmother (Vovo) to Adam Vicente (Kim), Jessica Schroeder (Andrew), Joshua Valador, Lorelei McVeen (Lachlann) and Gwyneth Campbell. Adored great-grandmother (Vovo) to William and Edward Schroeder. Maria’s legacy is the love for her family and friends. Maria prayed every day and was connected spiritually in a way that lifted all who were in contact with her. Maria loved her professional work as a personal seamstress in Portugal, as well as her career as a Food Service Worker at Scarborough General Hospital. Music and flowers were food for her soul. The family would like to thank her many healthcare providers. The funeral will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home in Richmond Hill and the interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Mom we miss you dearly.
Maria Carolina will be remembered by me for her fun sense of humour, her breadth of knowledge of Portuguese history and her personal anecdotes from her life in Portugal, and of course her frank advice on fashion! I wish I had spent many more years in Maria Carolina’s excellent company, but I feel very blessed and privileged to have had 4 wonderful years to get to know her as well as I did. A gifted conversationalist, a sage, a fashion icon, a gifted hostess, a wonderful friend, and an angel. I will miss Maria Carolina very much indeed.
You were the glue that kept the family together, miss you Vovo.

Peter, Having known your Mom and Dad since I was a young guy, I am sad they are now both gone. They always made me feel welcome and we had a quick talk.
My condolences to you and your family.
We will always remember cousin Maria Carolina for her strong sense of family, her friendship and her open smile and contagious laugh.
Despite the distance, she never forgot Portugal and her Portuguese family and friends with whom she always maintained a strong connection and included in her prayers.
We share her faith that she will have a place in heaven watching over all her family and friends, as she prayed during her life.
Our dear cousin Carolina, to whom we thank all her affection, will forever remain in our memory and in our hearts.
To “MOM”
…where do I begin? I miss your daily presence, with your knowledge of current events, your love of music and playing the piano by heart, laughing at the same jokes, enjoying MC chicken (a favourite of mine) or KFC, cheering on your favourite Benfica soccer team, your incessant desire to teach me to speak Portuguese (that was a lost cause.), always room for Hagen Daz ice cream bars, your love of hot dogs and “uvas”. I still expect to see you in your favourite chair watching the news or your “telenovelas”. We had a lot in common. Love, your favourite son-in-law.
We had the honour to have met Maria just a few years ago. She was a very kind, thoughtful person that had the ability to make us laugh, smile and feel loved. Her prayers for us were always appreciated. We cherish the time we were blessed to have her in our lives. Rest In Peace with St. Theresa, Maria.
