elevated Na587 Obituary
elevated Na587 It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Antonio Percat who died on July 29th, 2024 at the age of 87. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is joyfully reunited with predeceased loved ones. He was a passionate man who was a devoted husband to Bozenka (nee Ivetac) for over 63 years and a dedicated and loving father to his children, Mary (Bruce) and David. He is reunited with his son Marino who waited for his “Tata” since the age of seven. He was most proud and adoring Nonno to Natalie his cherished grand daughter.
elevated Na587 Antonio is reunited in heaven with his siblings who passed before him: Giovanni, Modesto, Mateo, Mia, Nina and Annunziata, as well as his parents Giovanni and Maria, whom he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, cousins, and cherished by his nieces and nephews.
elevated Na587 Born in a small town near Porec, Istria on August 28, 1936 he survived Nazi occupation and communist postwar military campaigns as a JNA conscript. After escaping communist Yugoslavia with his wife and spending time in an Italian displaced persons’ camp, Antonio emigrated to Australia in the early sixties. He and his family then emigrated to Canada in 1972 where he continued to raise his family with tenacity and resilience firmly rooted in his faith and deep love of his family.
elevated Na587 Antonio found simple pleasures in nature, hunting, wine-making and growing vegetables in his abundant garden. He was passionate about good home-cooked food and loved to generously host friends and family at his home. Through his sacrifices he gifted his children the best opportunities and promise of a better life, and through his legacy he bestowed to his family a love of great food, joy of friends and family and most importantly, resilience.
elevated Na587 The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses in the palliative unit of Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill for their outstanding care and compassion.
elevated Na587 Rest in peace, dear Toni. Your spirit will forever guide and inspire us.
elevated Na587 Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
