elevated yPmrJ Obituary

elevated yPmrJ With great sadness we announce the passing of Lucia Tobin on August 27, 2024 at the age of eighty-six years in Brampton, Ontario. Lucia was born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island on July 5, 1938.

elevated yPmrJ Lucia was one of thirteen children born to Marion and Benoit Gallant. Her family moved to Moncton, New Brunswick at the age of five years old. Lucia worked at a shoe store in Moncton to raise enough money to precipitate a move to Toronto, Ontario to explore a promising career in country music.

elevated yPmrJ Lucia was successful in finding work as a local musician in the Toronto area and worked other jobs such as court reporting and operating a switchboard at Don Valley Toyota. During this time, she met and married William Tobin (late) with whom she raised their five daughters: Kim, Cynthia, Maureen, Colleen, and Lisa. Lucia was a strong advocate for her children. Lucia was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Jonathan (late), Christopher, Nicole, Kyle, Kayla, Samantha, Alexandra, Cassandra, Lucas, Victor, and Jack. From these grandchildren she was also fortunate to have six great-grandchildren: Kevin, Waylen, Wyatt, Riley, Weston, Deacon, with a seventh on the way. They lovingly addressed her as “GiGi” and they will miss her “GiGi treats” dearly.

elevated yPmrJ Lucia was very active in her local community. She volunteered at Peel Memorial Hospital Lactation Clinic where she specialized in snuggling newborn babies and comforting new mothers. She worked tirelessly with Mary, her resident building manager, on their Social Committee helping to engage and include all the seniors who resided in their building in a variety of fun activities. Lucia was an avid baker. Her fellow residents will be missing the smell of her bread and other baked creations she graciously shared with them.

elevated yPmrJ Lucia was a Carmelite for over thirty years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Community Brampton. Lucia regularly attended St. Mary’s Church in Brampton, where she dedicated much of her energy administering the Communion to those who could not attend church.
