elevated 3bPTY Occasionally, in life we are blessed to be in the presence a person who encompasses the virtues of courage, compassion, faith, love, and service to others. It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shervanthi Felicia Rajah after a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer. Shervanthi passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones.
elevated 3bPTY Shervanthi will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Godfrey Rajah, who was at her side through life and her sons who call her “Ammi” Shehan (wife Amee) and Jehan (wife Rea). She will be forever remembered by the lights of her life, her grandchildren who call her “Archie” Maya, Quintin, Jekai, Avery, Daishin and little Nahlin. Her beloved sisters Silvia, Delicia, Nilan and her nieces and nephews and all her extended family and friends who she served so graciously.
elevated 3bPTY Born in Colombo Sri Lanka to Richard and Sybil Abeyeskra on Feb 1st 1950, Shervanthi showed early courage and resilience leaving home traveling abroad and furthering her education. In the 1970’s she met and married her husband Godfrey. Shervanthi accomplished a great feat by working at the United Nations traveling Asia and obtaining a UN passport. In 1990 she once again started a new life with her family in Canada, and despite the early hardships, created a secure home and future for her sons enabling them attend and successfully graduate university.
elevated 3bPTY Shervanthi was known for her kindness and giving spirit. The impact on her community was also profound as she was a tireless advocate for people less privileged and in need of help. She was a woman of faith and prayer who truly lived a life of Christianity and service to others. Shervanthi was a source of guidance and advisor to her friends and family. Shervanthi had passion for singing which naturally lead to participation in the church choir for many years. Her love of cooking made every family visit extra special. Her love and pride of her grandchildren was unwavering as they brought joy to her life.
elevated 3bPTY Ammi you were the glue that kept our family together. We have been blessed by your example of faith, perseverance, and strength. We will honour your wishes by staying together and witnessing your fighting spirit in your grandchildren as they grow up. Thank you for loving us, know that we love you and will miss you with all our hearts.

Shervanthi was a devoted social services officer at the East Mississauga Health Center when I first met her. Her clients loved her and and she explored out of the box ideas not only to respond to their immediate needs but find solutions to all their problems. We will all miss her smile and genuine love. We will miss you Shervanthi. We have known you since the 70s when you were working for my father , Dr. Pillai, at the UN/FAO regional office. You never forgot and always spoke about how my parents were supportive in your career and family life.
You were there for Mike and I when we spent 2 years in Toronto during the pandemic years. You were always there to talk to.
Your unwavering belief and conversations ( that you used to tell me about) with God gave you more years with your family, especially your grandchildren that you loved so dearly and always used to talk about.
Shehan and Jehan, will look after Godfrey. They are such good children. We are also there for them .
You were ever grateful to Princess Margaret Hospital for their care, by both the doctors and staff – we will honor your wishes and donate to the foundation so they may continue their good work.

Aunty Shervanthi was like a second mom to us. We have such fond memories being together in Thailand and visiting her in Toronto. She has touched so many lives and we are so very grateful for all the love, guidance, and support she gave us.

I had the great fortune of meeting “Felicia” thru the Wheels of Hope program. During those trips into PMH I got to know and appreciate her and her unwavering Faith. Such an example!! For us left behind, this news fills us with great sadness but also we rejoice that she has reached her reward with the Lord and is free of all suffering & pain. I miss her beautiful and welcoming smile. Shervanthi graced the halls of LAMP Community Health Centre and more recently at the East Mississauga site making everyone she met feel a part of the community and reaching out and assisting all those who needed it. Shervanthi was truly a bright light. You are in my prayers.

I’ve known Shivathy aunty and her family since I was a teenager in Bangkok. She was a family friend of my parents and an aunt to me, but over the years, she became one of my best friends. She was always there for me from then to now. We communicated often and she helped me a lot within my life, especially during tough times, including issues I’ve had with my health.
It’s hard to imagine a life without Shivathy aunty’s laugh and smile – she was always positive and cheerful, no matter what hardship was thrown at her.
You will be missed, aunty. You meant a lot to me and my family. You will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

I had the honour of working with Shervanthi at the LAMP Community Health Centre for over ten years. As many others have remarked, her kindness and generosity were extraordinary. She also had superb “street smarts”; it would always be unwise to disregard her opinions or advice. Her linguistic skills were equally impressive; she spoke several languages effortlessly and was an invaluable interpreter for the agency.
Shervanthi was admired and respected by the entire medical team at LAMP; we were so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside such an amazing woman. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.
