elevated 6XV1b Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nonna and “Nonna-Nonna”, Filomena Tacconelli (nee De Francesco), who left us peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Rivaldo, and her dear son, Domenico. Proud mother to Lidia and Vienna (late Gordon); Nonna to Lauren (Luigi), Anthony (Kristen), Danielle (Adrian), Sarah (Jan), Dylan, Jordana and doting “Nonna-Nonna” to Juliana, Andreas, Cassia, Hali, Kai, Daniel, Noa and Luca.
elevated 6XV1b Born in Ripa Teatina (CH), Italy, Filomena immigrated to Canada in 1956 with Rivaldo and her young family in pursuit of a better life. With determination, resilience, and a feisty spirit, she worked tirelessly to create a legacy for her family. Her strong work ethic, indomitable spirit, and unwavering love for her friends and family defined her life and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
elevated 6XV1b She was a Jill of All Trades. Whether it was caring for her family; acting as a pseudo-mom to newly immigrated boarders; making clothing for her daughters; an advocate for factory worker rights; card shark; pro bocce player (with the trophies to prove it!) or preparing delicious meals (chicken cutlets, lasagna, and soup to name a few of her best) – she mastered each, and every, one.
elevated 6XV1b Her memory will be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia. The queen of our family, Filomena, will forever be missed but never forgotten.
elevated 6XV1b Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Chapel on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.
We welcome all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
elevated 6XV1b In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Filomena’s charity of choice, Sick Kids Foundation, in her honour.
