March 5, 1952 – December 30, 2024
elevated 2IxIl It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Ann Herber announce her peaceful passing on December 30th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones, in her home at the age of 72. Born March 5, 1952, she was the eldest child of the late Joseph and Ellen (Weldon) McLoughlin. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1977, where she settled and established her family.
elevated 2IxIl Commonly known as Marie, she was the life of the party, creating many fond memories with family and friends throughout the years. She was cherished for her storytelling, sound life advice and quick witted humour. She was proud of her Irish culture, often stating “You can take the girl out of Ireland but not the Irish out of the girl”. She worked many years in the food and hospitality industry, and while raising her family, established a small house cleaning business. More than anything else in her life, she loved the time spent with family. Marie welcomed her first grandchild, Charlotte Marie Aker, in 2021 and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a grandson in the coming weeks. She will be remembered as a devoted and adoring wife, mother and grandmother.
elevated 2IxIl She fought a long and difficult battle with cancer, while still trying to enjoy the best of life. She was extremely grateful for all of the doctors and support staff at Credit Valley Hospital that supported her journey. Her dearest friends and family offered exceptional support, kindness and care which filled her with everlasting gratitude. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Bernard; children, Yvonne (Mitchell) and Alexandre (Jake); granddaughter (Charlotte), siblings in Ireland; Anthony (Jean), Gerry (Laura), and Rose; as well as many nieces and nephews.
elevated 2IxIl Visitation will take place at Assumption Catholic Funeral Home (6933 Tomken Rd, Mississauga, ON) on Tuesday, January 7th from 4-8pm, followed by a funeral service at Assumption Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday, January 8th at 10:30am.
