elevated UuuWg It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Casimiro, a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend, who left this world peacefully on December 31st, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 93 years old.
Born on November 9th, 1931 in Ginetes, Sao Miguel, Maria Casimiro was a beacon of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. She devoted her life to her family and her church community, always putting others before herself. Her warmth and generosity were unmatched, and her home was a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome.
As a mother, Maria Casimiro was our beacon of light and greatest teacher. She was our fiercest protector, and our constant source of wisdom. She led by example, teaching us the value of hard work, resilience, compassion and love of God. Her laughter lit up every room, and her words of encouragement carried us through life’s challenges.
She took immense pride in her family, especially her five children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Maria Casimiro will be remembered for her selfless heart, her infectious smile, and her unwavering faith in God and the goodness of people.
She is survived by her children Tibbs/Maryam, Catarina/Ed, Ana/Michael, Rick/Michele, Pat/Gerry, and Maggie. Also survived by her grandchildren Shalene/Omari, Frank/Stacey, Ryan-Lee/Sarah, Kira, Jordan, Sara/Ali, Breanna and Adriana and her great grandchildren. She joins her husband Tiberio, her sister Livia and her mother Alexandrinha in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to North York General Foundation, reflecting Maria Casimiro Simoes commitment to helping others.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Maria Casimiro’s love and spirit will remain with us forever. Rest in peace, dear Mom. You will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

Maria Simoes is a cheerful and thoughtful friend and I will never forget her infectious smile which warms anybody’s heart, specially mine. She is truly gracious and kind, a faithful and loving friend I will surely miss. Rest in Peace
Maria was one of the first people to greet us when we first started attending St. Mary Immaculate Church. She had a contagious smile and prided herself on knowing your name. Along with the smile, came a big hug. Although small in stature, she had the biggest heart. She was very well liked and will be dearly missed. I have no doubt she is in heaven with her dearly departed loved ones. Condolences are extended to her family.
Thank you David.
Thank you Boots. She truly loved and appreciated you and we are grateful that you were in her life.
My deepest condolences. May Maria Rest in Peace. I have met her 3 times and liked her very much. Very kind soul. 🙏
Thank you so much Lus for taking the time to add this kind message. I know that you are also dealing with challenges and want you to know I’m thinking of you.

Thank you Grace. Mom loved her SMIRH family.
Senhora Simoes was a wonderful kind person. I loved her dearly. I met her over 10 yrs ago at St Mary Immaculate Church. We joined the CWL around the same time. I was surprised to learn that she was Portuguese. As it turns out we were both born in same Island of Sao Miguel, Acores. She loved our church & was very involved in helping with CWL events before moving to Delmar. When I visited her there she always insisted on making me a specialty coffee and have cookies.
To the family, my condolences, your mother loved you dearly, grandkids & great grandkids. She has left a mark on all those she touched. I’m sorry that I’m not able to attend funeral as I will be out of the Country. Descance ‘em Paz querida amiga. To quote Senhora “I love you”
Filomena, Mom was a very proud member of CWL and talked about you often. Thank you for being in her life.

Maria was a lovely person and a kind dear Soul. She was always a cheerful person. I knew Maria through the CWL of St. Mary Immaculate Parish, and it is wonderful that through this she touched my life. She was very involved in the groups activities. Thank you Agnes. She was always talking about you and the CWL ‘ladies’. She loved you all!
Accept my deepest sympathies Maria was a great lady who I met through CWL and became a friend who lived in the same building as me and we often pray together until she moved to the retirement home
Her beautiful smile will be missed.
Let her soul rest in peace
Thank you Rita, and the CWL Family. You were always there for her while she lived at your building.
A kind, warm and loving person has been called home by God. I knew Maria through the C.W.L. but more recently saw her frequently when I did Communion services on Thursdays at Del Manor. She was always there and so grateful to be able to receive Holy Communion. The last time I was there, on Dec.19th she did not come to the service, so I went to her room with my partner. She was very happy to see us. We said prayers together and she received Communion. We talked a bit, then hugged and kissed her and told her that we loved her. What a beautiful memory! My deepest condolences to all her family. I know how much she will be missed. Rest in peace, dear friend.
Blessings,
Sharon Moos

Maria and I met at her first CWL Meeting at St Mary Immaculate Church,
Her genuine, ever-present smile and warm personality endeared her to everyone with whom she came in contact.
Her willingness to be part of, and to help with whatever needed to be done was never-ending.
Small in stature, but magnanimous in spirit, her strength of character could be felt.
She will be remembered with fondness.
My sincere condolences to all her family.
May she rest in peace.
Dear Simoes Family,
Our Deepest Sympathies in the passing of your dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Maria.
We go back a long ways, when Maria, Tiberio, and family lived at 250 Apache Trail, in Willowdale, North York. We lived on Navaho Road.
Maria & Tiberio attended Epiphany of our Lord English Prayer Group for many years.
I remember a few of us being invited to their property in Florida.
Whenever we would meet Tiberio, his greeting would always be, “How is your family?”. Always so kind and loving.
We visited your dear father in the Nursing Home, across their condo.
Unfortunately we lost touch over the years and realized that Maria’s phone number was no longer in service. That is when she must have been moved to Del Manor Retirement Home.
Always a big smile on her face, a big hug, and warm, loving, and caring.
Yesterday, we buried my son-in-law’s mother, and my youngest brother, Joe, mentioned Maria’s name while we were at the Cemetery, that he saw your mother’s name at Holy Cross Funeral Home. When he mentioned this to me, I could hardly believe it! I had wondered if indeed Maria was still alive!
What a co-incidence or God-incidence! He mentioned that your dear mother was laid out across the hall.
Before we left Holy Cross, I went back upstairs and I met Cathy in the room where your mother was laid. I spoke with Cathy for a few minutes.
Pray God to comfort and strengthen your hearts during this sorrowful time. Maria will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Unfortunately we will be unable to attend Maria’s Funeral today.
With Deepest Affection, Rae
Maria holds a special place in my heart as she was one of the first residents I worked with during my placement. I will never forget her unwavering support and kindness ( seems like my fans :P). She felt like a second mother to me, always encouraging me to study hard and reminding me that God is with me.
I cherish the unforgettable moments we shared during the activities I had the privilege to lead—our Java music sing-alongs, playing dominoes, morning seated fitness exercises, ballroom dancing, and the joy of seeing her win the bingo jackpot.
Maria’s warmth, laughter, and faith left a lasting impression on me, and I will always hold her memory close. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
I love you Maria .
