It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Terry McCusker on December 29, 2024, at North York General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Terry faced a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and is now at rest.

elevated 0L1Rg Terry was born and raised in Toronto, on Alcorn Avenue, the middle child of Patrick and Margaret McCusker. He grew up alongside his older sister Maureen (Trauzzi) and his younger brother and best friend, Denny. Terry leaves behind his beloved wife, Leslie; his devoted children, Gordon (Kelly), Corey (Mike), and Stephen; and his stepchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Donna, and Darlene, (predeceased by stepson Grant).

elevated 0L1Rg Terry will be missed by his grandchildren Lauren (Kyle), Troy (Emily), Paige, and Vaughn, as well as his great-grandchildren, Sierra and Brody, who brought him so much joy in his final months.

elevated 0L1Rg Terry will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, his extended family, and the many dear friends whose lives he touched.

elevated 0L1Rg As a young man, Terry excelled in a variety of sports, but it was his lifelong passion for hockey that defined him. Whether playing, coaching, or supporting his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, hockey remained a central part of his life. An enthusiastic conversationalist, Terry could strike up a hockey discussion with anyone, whether they were lifelong friends or strangers he met on the street.

elevated 0L1Rg Terry’s career began at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) before moving on to the Toronto Star. He spent the last 25 years at Parmalat Dairy.

elevated 0L1Rg Terry’s proudest accomplishment was his 45 years of dedication to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). His commitment to the program allowed him to develop lifelong friendships and make a profound impact by sharing his personal experiences with others in meetings, groups, and institutions.

elevated 0L1Rg Terry had an innate ability to bring laughter to any room and a compassion that lifted spirits, even in the most challenging times.

elevated 0L1Rg He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

elevated 0L1Rg A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Parish, 39 Green Lane, Thornhill, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with refreshments to follow.
