It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Martin Uy, beloved father, and steadfast and loyal friend to so many, on January 12, 2025 in Toronto, Canada, at the age of 91. He was born on July 1, 1933 in Cebu City, Philippines.

elevated 6f4fY He is reunited with his loving wife, Carmen, and his adored sister Siu Eng. Loving brother-in-law to Jesus (Sandra), the late Erlinda, Chiotee (Victor), Piang Su (Nina) and others. Cherished uncle to Jeremias (Hanita), Emma (Gaston), Ethel (Steve), Joshua, Sidney (Cheryl) and Vicky. Lifelong devoted friend and uncle to the Yap family (the late Victor, Lyda, Adrienne (Richard), Carl (Genevieve), Joan (George), Keith (Mandy), Pearl (Eric), and the Wong family (Evelyn, Raymond Sr. and Raymond Jr. (Denise). Martin is survived by his loving son, Gary.

elevated 6f4fY Martin will be remembered for his enormous reserves of energy, exceptional longevity, his commitment to his friends and family, and for his lifelong passion for the outdoors, nature and wildlife. He loved life and he set an example to all who knew him for his remarkable determination and commitment to living it to the full each and every day.

elevated 6f4fY We wish to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mary Beth DeRocher for her diligence and humanity in caring for Martin’s remains, and the kindness and compassion shown to the family during the dreadful events of the past days. Prayers for the repose of the soul of Martin are kindly requested and gratefully received.

elevated 6f4fY Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24 at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, located at 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, Ontario, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Mass will follow in the Chapel of St. Joseph (within the Holy Cross Funeral Home) at 1:30 p.m., and a reception will be held immediately following the Mass (in reception rooms also within the Holy Cross Funeral Home). The date of Entombment will be the subject of a separate announcement.
