elevated BENyb Mary Amado passed away at 6:51 am on February 10, 2025. Born in Lima, Peru on Dec 26, 1946, Mary Amado was the youngest in a family of 7 siblings, and was the beloved daughter of Celestino De La Cruz and Victoria Hernandez. In her early years, she attended a boarding school, learning many of the life skills she so meticulously followed later in life. She went on to study languages and the Arts and graduated as an elementary school teacher. Her passion for teaching made it difficult for her to leave and resettle in Canada but the love she and Juan (future husband) had helped them overcome all obstacles. She met Juan, through a family introduction as she had caught his eye at Sunday mass. It was Juan’s persistence that convinced her to steer onto her next path in life which led them to Canada. Mary and Juan married happily on December 15, 1973 and raised two kids, Madge Selena and Martin Steven, in Toronto, Ontario. Their marriage lasted close to 50 years bringing beautiful experiences along the way including the birth of their 3 grandkids, Martenn, Marteen and Selena. Juan and Mary had a beautiful bond; one of longevity and dedication. They were inseparable. Mary was a devout Catholic, and was at peace to embark into the heavenly world. In her final days she shared the following, “Lo encontre a tu papa” (translated to “I’ve found your father”).
elevated BENyb Mary can be remembered as a caring and loving mother, a hard working and dedicated wife, a special and generous aunt, an endearing friend and someone true to her word.
Rest in peace beloved mom.

Tia Mary and Tio Juan were the patriarchs of our family in Canada. They both welcomed every family member to the country. Their hard work, endurance and resilience are a priceless legacy to all of us. Auntie Mary, you were a blessing to all us. You will be forever in our hearts.
She was a beautiful lady with a gentle spirit. My deepest condolences to the family during the very difficult time.
