elevated lJJ4b Obituary
We said goodbye to Roberta “Bobbie” Byrne with heavy hearts, full of love and gratitude. Bobbie, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was lovingly cared for at home by her devoted husband of 54 years, Joseph “Joe” Byrne during a prolonged illness. Bobbie’s daughters, Suzanne Villeneuve (Matt) and Stephanie Nargoz (Muzaffer) were blessed to have a role model like Bobbie who lived her life caring for others with grace, humility, patience and selflessness. Bobbie epitomized kindness, loyalty, and compassion, and had a friendly word for everyone she encountered.
elevated lJJ4b Bobbie was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland. She immigrated to Canada in 1963 with her parents, Robert and Susan Neil (both deceased), and her siblings. She was a devoted daughter and shared a loving bond with her sisters Maureen (Jack pre-deceased), Jean (John) and Lizann (Bill pre-deceased) and her brothers James (pre-deceased) and Hugh. She was fluent in two languages, English and broad Scots!
elevated lJJ4b Bobbie was a proud grandmother to Leah, Ryan, and Maya. With Joe, she babysat the kids often and they loved spending time with Nana. She was also loved by all of her nephews and nieces. She worked for many years in the Business Office at Scarborough General Hospital.
elevated lJJ4b Bobbie had many gifts and talents. She was creative and gifted at knitting and crocheting. Her homemade blankets, baby clothes, and doilies will always be treasured. She was a formidable Scrabble player who always seemed to manage to use all of her letters on triple word scores. She never met a crossword or puzzle that she couldn’t solve. She was smart, organized, loved animals, and took pride in everything she did. She was sentimental, family-oriented, and a devout Catholic who lived her faith every day.
elevated lJJ4b Bobbie spent the last day of her life on Earth in the 6th floor palliative care unit at Scarborough Hospital, General Division. The care she received that day was exceptional and her family offers sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses for their care and compassion. They also wish to thank the Personal Support Workers assigned to her daily care over the past several years from Spectrum Health in East Scarborough. With their assistance and the help of his daughters, Joe was able to take care of Bobbie at home until the end. The family wishes to thank extended family and friends for their love and support throughout the years.
elevated lJJ4b Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Bobbie will never be forgotten and her loved ones will be eternally grateful for having known her gentle spirit.
