elevated 7RCWd Born on September 29, 1947, with the blonde hair of an angel, in a small town called Monteleone, in the Province of Foggia, Region of Apuglia (‘the heel of the mainland boot’), nestled in the Appenine Mountains near the Adriatic Sea in Southern Italy, Angelo was the only child of Rocchina Colangelo and Antonio Pagniello. When Angelo was three years of age, he immigrated with his parents to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He loved his home on Strathmore in the Italian area of Woodbine and Danforth, and his family helped other Italian immigrants by taking them into their home upon their arrival from Italy, to make their transition to Canadian life easier.  When he was in his 20s, he moved with his parents to Agincourt in north Scarborough. You could find Angelo with his paintings and playing the drums. He loved Toronto. It was the arts hub for him and he thrived here.  He even played with his Cousin Giovanni aka John in a band called The Mustangs at weddings and other parties!  A few years later, his Dad bought a home in Keswick and moved his wife and son there.  It was a bit of an adjustment for Angelo who loved the city but he became accustomed to his natural surroundings and found comfort in his visual art, sculpture, woodburning creations, inventing devices, music, collecting, making music with friends and helping others by driving for CHATS.  At the turn of the new millenium, he lost both his parents within a five-year period. This was a difficult time for Angelo who did not have any siblings nor children. However, Angelo managed to live on his own and maintain his home for over a decade, despite his mental and physical health challenges. Even in his darkest moments, like when a failed laser eye surgery operation left him blind in one eye, making it difficult for him to create his visual art, he usually managed to crack a joke and a smile. When his health deteriorated and his doctor recommended he be in a rest home so he wouldn’t be living alone, he was sad to say goodbye to his home on Highfield Cresent, as it reminded him of his dear parents. At the Leblanc Rest Home, Angelo’s favourite pastime was eating and the food was always good and plenty. When younger residents moved in, he made a few new friends who celebrated his artwork and enjoyed his playing of the accordion. Angelo passed away peacefully in his sleep during the night of All Souls’ Day. Our dear Cousin is reunited with his parents and his beloved budgies (parakeets), Chi Chi & Bambino and Others, in Paradise.
