elevated BLL9G Obituary
Born in Pisticci, Matera, Italy on January 8, 1934 to Cataldo Camardo and Antonia Maria Carretta.
elevated BLL9G Carmela was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni Panettieri, whom she married on December 20, 1950. They started their family and they were blessed with 3 Children born in Italy and one born in Canada.
elevated BLL9G Though she knew she would miss her family, Carmela left Italy to join her husband in Canada, in October of 1959.
elevated BLL9G In Canada, Carmela stayed home to raise and care for her children. She loved to cook traditional meals and homemade pastas.
elevated BLL9G She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she helped raise, even in her final moments she smiled and told them she loved them. Her face lit up seeing them at her bedside.
elevated BLL9G Though she will be missed greatly, we are comforted knowing she will be welcomed into heaven by her darling Giovanni, her daughter Rosa and her sisters Grazia, Pasqua and Rosa.
elevated BLL9G Carmela was a loving mother to Maria Antonietta (John), Nick and Lucy (Ron). Cherished Nonna to Michelle (Daniel), Robert (Nadia), Stephanie and Reneè. Caring Great Grandmother to Madeleine, Julianne, Luke, Noah, Jacob, Gianluca and Charlie.
elevated BLL9G Carmela’s legend, sense of family, and beautiful smile, will continue to live on in our hearts, and in our minds.

My deepest condolences to the Panettieri family from Zio Antonio Camardo family.Carmela was our first cousin and only cousin on my dad’s side when we first came to Canada in 1960 and we have been close since then with the Camardo family. She was part of our large family to my mom and dad. Carmela you will be missed. I leave you with one thing to give my mom and dad a big hug and kiss. Love always your cousin Teressi…that’s what you called me.
Siamo molto dispiaciuti e tristi e affettuosamente vicini vostro grande dolore. Graziano Anna Maria e famiglie

Carmela was a wonderful lady and she was a good friend to my mother Renata at Villa DaVinci. Carmela loved to participate in the various functions and events they had and I would always see her in the exercise class. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
