Carmelita Manlangit Jacinto, 75 years old, passed away on Thursday, August 25th, 2022, from her battle with cancer. She passed surrounded by her husband, and siblings at home.
Carmelita Jacinto was born on August 6th, 1947 in Tondo, Manila, Philippines to the late Aguida and Pio Manlangit. She is one of twelve children. Carmelita studied and majored in History at The University of Centro Escolar. She would later work for the Navy for one of their departments, as an Event Coordinator for social services. Carmelita immigrated to Canada in 1975, where she would pursue the program of Nursing Assistant from one of Toronto Nursing schools and worked at the same time as a medical secretary at the Physician Laboratory Services. Eventually she would graduate, and work at Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she would work for 13 years.
Carmelita married Manolito Jacinto in 1976 at St. Basil church, and would spend decades of life together filled with laughter, love, and dancing. Carmelita loved life, valued health, enjoyed fashion, but most of all a devoted wife. Carmelita and Lito Jacinto would celebrate their union of 25 years in a big celebration with family and friends in 2001. She was a fierce woman, with a distinct laugh, and a love for her nieces and nephews, always looking out, sharing wisdom, and helping care for them throughout the years. She was a friend to many; generous and always thinking of others.
Carmelita was always involved in The Church, whether it was in The Philippines at The Santo Nino Choir with one of her brothers, even attending competitions. In Canada, Carmelita was involved in volunteering at St. Mary’s church as an RCIA. She is a member of The Barangay ng Sang Birhen and of The Marriage Enrichment group 13 with Father Rustia at Regina Mundi.
Carmelita is cherished in loving memory by her husband, Manolito Jacinto; her brothers and sisters, Adelaida, Dorotea, Ricardo, Julieta, Daniel, and Marcelino; and her many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Forever you’ll be missed. We love you!
