It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Cesar Manikad Arias, Sr., a beloved father, husband, grandfather, Tito, Kuya, Ninong, cousin, community leader, and a friend, on March 3, 2025, at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 17, 1940 in Lucena City, Philippines.
elevated kRZYM A retired Financial Controller, he was a dedicated leader in the Filipino community who worked tirelessly to bring people together and foster a sense of unity and purpose. His unwavering commitment to making a difference inspired everyone who knew him.
elevated kRZYM As a former president of many associations, including, Barangay Pilipino, Rizal Cup Bowling League, Mississauga Pilipino Athletic Association (MPAA), Kalayaan Filipino Cultural Organization (KFCO) and the founding president of Amigos Golf Group, his contributions to the community were immeasurable.
elevated kRZYM As an avid sports fan, he cheered passionately for his favorite teams—the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, bowling, softball, and swimming. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious and he brought joy to every game he played or watched.
elevated kRZYM Family was at the heart of everything Cesar, Sr. did. His home was the hub of many celebrations for family and friends, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and supported. Christmas gatherings at his home were legendary; filled with love, laughter, and known for cooking everyone’s favourite dishes, like pancit canton, kare-kare and beef mechado.
elevated kRZYM Cesar, Sr. is survived by his loving wife Estelita, his daughter Anne Marie, son-in-law RJ, son Cesar, Jr., daughter-in-law Ayanna, grandson Zac, sisters Minda and Digna and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister Gloria. He was a cherished and caring presence to his sisters-in-law, Ellie and Rorie. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
elevated kRZYM A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13 at Assumption Catholic Funeral Home 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga, Ontario L5T1N4 at 11am to celebrate and honour Cesar Sr.’s life. PLEASE NOTE: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES WILL BE PERMITTED.

Today, we gather, hearts heavy yet full,
To honor a man so cherished, so whole.
Though sorrow lingers as we say goodbye,

Tito Cesar, the light of our days,
Filling each gathering with warmth and grace.
Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve,
Moments so precious, we hardly believe.
I still see us cousins, huddled tight,
Laughter and music filling the night.
With Julius as DJ, the melodies soared,
As our parents clapped and laughter roared.
Then came the moment we all held dear…
The midnight countdown, the joy, the cheer!
Coins and bills tossed high in the air,
Scrambling, laughing, without a care.
The little ones cried, the big ones beamed,
A tradition of love…more than it seemed.
When my children were born, they, too,
Felt the magic of the love we knew.
Rudy and Jaynie, eyes shining bright,
Living the memories that felt so right.
And Orville, too, embraced with pride,
Welcomed with open arms inside.
And oh, your Afritada, rich and divine,
Your Pancit, a taste no one could refine.
A plate from your hands, a gift from the heart,
A flavor of home that will never depart.
Each spring, we’d visit, just Mom, AJ, and me,
You’d do my taxes, always for free.
With a knowing smile, you’d proudly declare,
“A big refund’s coming!”—a joy we shared.
Your home was magic, a world of delight,
The latest gadgets, movies so bright.
A place of laughter, a haven so true,
A space filled with love, all thanks to you.
Though you’ve journeyed beyond our sight,
We know you’re watching, bathed in light.
Reunited with Tito Boni and friends so dear,
Guiding us softly, whispering near.
Your spirit remains in the stories retold,
In the love that lingers, in hearts consoled.
Love never fades; it only grows,
In every smile, in every rose.
Rest peacefully, dear Tito Cesar, free as the breeze,
