Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Francis D’Mello, who left us peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 6 at the age of 93.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Noemie, his brother Benny, sister Eva, brother-in-law Aloysius, sisters-in-law Marina and Lydia, and extended family around the world who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He was predeceased by his parents Timothy and Helen, his siblings Arnold, Sr. Mary Shilaand Francis, his parents-in-law Joaquim and Edith da Cunha, his brothers-in-law Benny Fernandes and Tony da Cunha and sisters-in-law Dr. Theresa D’Mello, Veena D’Mello and Sally da Cunha.
Donald was known for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. His presence brought warmth and happiness to all who knew him.
Donald and Noemie shared a love for travel, embarking on numerous memorable trips and cruises together. Donald would often be seen with a camera in hand, taking pictures and capturing many special and happy memories.
To know Donald was to love him. We will forever miss his kindness, delightful sense of humour and genuine words of wisdom.
Donald was generous in supporting various causes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honour of Donald can be made to a charity of your choice.

Naomi, it is with great sadness that Pam and I offer our deepest condolences. Donald was the kindest of men with a presence that lit up a room. He was always such a close friend to Dad (freddie) right until his passing.
Donald always offered everyone his best self and his words were genuine. I will never forget the words he told me at my wedding as he took me aside. I’ve lived by those words the last 10 years. His friendship to me after my parents passing was so amazing. I am grateful to have known even the smallest part of Donald.
Eternal rest grant unto Donald, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Donald was such a good man, we all loved him and will miss him. Lots of strength to Noemie, may Donald rest in peace.
May the soul of U. Donald rest in peace! May God grant A. Noemie the strength to bear this immense loss. Will keep both in prayer.

U Donald was very, very dear to all his nieces and nephews. He showed us what it meant to be a “family” and the importance of “communication”. Rarely a Christmas, Easter or Birthday went by without a call from him and A. Noemi. They also travelled to all parts of the globe to actually visit family! I am going to miss these calls from him terribly. But I will definitely continue to keep in touch with you, my dearest A. Noemi.
U Donald and A Noemi, you have been an integral part of my childhood and growing up years. Having lived in Pune, Gerard and I were privileged to meet you whenever you came to India. I will always be grateful for having you both in my life.
Deepest and heartfelt condolences, tons of love and big hugs from me, Vivian, Pooja and Venetia.
Darling uncle Donald, your absence is huge, your sudden departure from our lives a shocker, and the sadness in your wake is very real.
You were an amazing spirit in flight- youthful in your entirety, loving to the nth degree, and generous to the core. Your love for family was inspiring, that reached beyond the boundaries of blood and marriage. You reached for humor unabashedly, leaving us memories of laughter chuckles and squeals in your midst.
I have been truly blessed and grateful to have you as my god-pa. While I wish I could’ve had more years to celebrate Father’s Day with you, I’ll treasure every nugget of advice, encouragement,, support and love you’ve left ringing in our midst.
And, forever, shall linger the taste of your deelish salmon, sorpotel, and culinary experiments you’d whip up to entertain my ever-ready self. As you’d like to take credit, I dare say, I am a lot like my godfather. know then, I’ll reach out to aunty Noemie for sorpotel lessons 🙂
Aunty Noemie, you were the wind beneath his wings. The reason for his smile. The extension of his love. I so wish you find comfort in the many memories and lives you have lived together. And, as you take on your new steps, know you shall always have me to call.., and ever-ready as before to have a glass of cheer with you, and a home for you to stay at.
Lots of love always from the entire family, and my furry beasts, colonel patchouli, chillie-dawg in spirit.
Xo Charmaine

Dear Noemie
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved husband. May his soul rest in peace. May God hold your hand and help you with your grief.
U. Donald was one of the best human beings that I have ever known. Along with my sister, Janet, I have had the privilege of knowing him and A. Noemie from the time we were little. His affection and generosity knew no bounds. He made it a point to meet up with every relative and friend whenever he visited any place. At every birthday, every Christmas and every Easter there was surely a call from U. Donald and A. Noemie.
Farewell dearest U. Donald. May you be with the angels in Heaven, in the company of our near and dear ones there!
Dearest A. Noemie, we know how much you are going to miss U. Donald. We pray that God gives you the strength and courage to bear this great loss. We are with you in this difficult time and will continue to be there for you.
With love from Gerard, Reuben, Schnelle, Michelle, Nicholas and Oliver.
Dearest Noemie
We will miss Donald so much. He was such a wonderful person and we loved talking to him. I remember seeing both of you every time you visited Mom and Dad in Saligao. You are in our thoughts and prayers every day.
