elevated YDGIy February 6, 1936 – May 11, 2022
elevated YDGIy She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and John, and her brother, John Hermann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gifford; though their lives took different paths, they remained the truest of friends until his passing, and their devotion to one another and to their family never wavered.
elevated YDGIy She will be deeply mourned but lovingly remembered and held forever in the hearts of her daughter Gloria (David Poborsa) and her sons Glenn and Douglas (Lynn Meadus).
elevated YDGIy She was a loving presence in every part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives; she shared a strong bond with them and was a graceful and deeply devoted Gramma to James Poborsa (Alana) and Scott Poborsa (Julia), and a loving great-grandmother to Quinn and Ava.
elevated YDGIy She was also the beloved Grammy Gifford to Christopher and Amber.
elevated YDGIy Her profound devotion to her family remains one of her greatest legacies.
elevated YDGIy A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 141 McCaul Street, Toronto, on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 2 pm.
elevated YDGIy Our mom loved her tea, and in a different time, we would have gathered for a high tea celebration of her life at the Windsor Arms Hotel. Unfortunately, due to Covid, there will not be a gathering following the church service. In her memory, please share a kind word or a cup of tea with someone you love.
elevated YDGIy She was a loyal and loving wife, a nurturing mother, and a loyal friend.
elevated YDGIy If you were lucky enough to have met her, you instantly saw her kind heart. She moved through the world with a quiet grace and a refined sensibility, guided by her gentle intuition and pure spirit. She was polished and fashionable, and had a passion for architecture, fashion, travel, and interior design. She possessed a quiet strength and an unwavering spirit, always reaching out to help those in need with an accepting heart. She lived her life with true intentionality, remaining strong in mind and spirit until the end.
elevated YDGIy As her children, we are so grateful to her for giving us life and nurturing us all the days of hers. ❤️

I met Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth) when she shared a room with my mom at Michael Garron (East General). She was so sweet and had a lovely smile. Queen Elizabeth and my mom Queen Wilhelmina held hands and sang. It will always be a precious memory. R.I.P. sweet Queen Elizabeth ❤🙏

Today August 4, 2022. I was not informed about Bettys’ passing. I typed in her name and just now found out. Betty was all heart and a good friend of my Mothers. I always had fun with Betty and am very sad to hear about her passing. She worked with my Mother a long time ago at the Toronto Public Library and my heart goes out to all that loved her.
Thank you Greg🙏🏻
I was so sorry to hear about Betty’s passing. I remember her warm smile, and gentle manner. We had so many good vacations together with our friend Jan Clark and warm evenings with Isabel eating the best food and cakes that your mom made–especially the stuffed Hungarian peppers! I know that she loved you with all of her heart and that we will all miss her. My best to the whole family
Thank you Bev🙏🏻
