Obituary
elevated QPAKF With great sadness, we announce the passing of Filomena (Santilli) Zangrilli on September 24th, 2024. Our beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully at the age of 82 years old.
Filomena is survived by her husband, Giuseppe, sons Domenic (Diane) and Lorenzo (Kim), and grandchildren Samantha, Julia, Alison, Anthony, and Rebecca.
elevated QPAKF Filomena was born in Spigno Saturnia, Italy, and immigrated to Canada with her growing family in 1965. She was blessed with two sons, who created her greatest joy: a large and loving family.
Filomena was fiercely devoted to her grandchildren and happy to be involved. She was an irreplaceable star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her.
She was the heart and soul of our family, always offering support and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
She loved to cook for an army, was highly skilled with knitting needles and crochet hooks, and was passionate about gardening.
Her family and close friends, in Canada, USA and Italy, will greatly miss her.
elevated QPAKF The family would like to extend special thanks to the dedicated staff of Credit Valley Hospital for providing comfort and care in her final days. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held on Sunday, September 29th, from 2 to 6 pm, at Assumption Catholic Funeral Home, in the Chapel at 6933 Tomken Rd, Mississauga.
The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Assumption Catholic Funeral Home on Monday, September 30th, at 10:00 am, followed by entombment at Our Lady of Fatima Mausoleum.
elevated QPAKF In lieu of flowers, friends and family who want to honor Filomena are invited to make a donation in her name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Those wishing to participate in the funeral but are unable to visit in person can attend the live stream via the link in the obituary.
Our family thanks you for your support and well wishes during this difficult time.

Though you’re no longer with us, the kindness, support, and love you gave, especially during our time in Canada, will never be forgotten. You were a guiding light in our lives, and your memory will forever be cherished. Rest in peace, dear Zia..

Dearest Aunt Filomena may your last trip be happy, as happy all of us is your memory … in particular your sympathy, humor and energy
We met, for a short time, at my wedding and immediately we empathised.
When we said goodbye we promised to see each other again soon, and we did, with our always smiling and joking video calls.
You said that this fall you would return to Italy and we were all looking forward to you … nice joke you played on us…… Come on, one day we’ll see each other again.
I will miss you a lot.
