It is with great sadness that we write this letter, as we would have been there in an instant; we would have done anything to have one last moment, one last laugh, one last touch of Gerard.
Gerard had something about him that only a few of us in this world possess – a never ending aura of positivity. Every minute spent with him was filled with music, dancing, and love for each other. His charismatic spirit never let us say no to a dance with him. It was an honor to even share one song with Gerard. If you said you did not know how to cross-step, his response was always “Come child, I’ll show you.”
These celebrations with him brought a whole new meaning to the holidays. Every year, a few weeks before Christmas, he would ask “Are we going there or are you all coming here?” We are grateful for the time we spent with him, but we long to hear that question again.
Above all, he was devoted to his beautiful wife, Karen, and children, Gavin and Kazvin. He cherished them, held them up as diamonds. They were his pride and joy, his treasures, and the loves of his life.
To us, he was more than a brother, brother-in-law, or an uncle. He was a part of us. We cannot deny this feeling of incredible loss to our family. The magnetism of his soul cannot be replaced. Gerard left in peace, but his passing has left us in pieces. We cannot help this feeling of emptiness, but we know Gerard would want us to celebrate his life, remembering him as an
undeniably charming soul.
Our dearest Gerard, we will always hold Karen, Kazvin, and Gavin close to us, and we will forever dance in your honor.
