I have the honour of meeting Gino way too late in life and for too much of a short time. We could have become great friends as we shared many similarities on our journey from Italy and our life in Canada. To his wife Linda and their dear ones, my deep condolences.
A few months ago, my wife and I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Mr. Gino Di Genova and the rest of his wonderful family. Our acquaintance was not happenstance, but as a result of our son having the fortune of falling in love with and marrying his niece Jessica, Mario’s daughter.
From the moment I met Gino, I, also being Italian and coincidentally also a Di Genova from the same region in Italy, felt as having known Gino for a lifetime. Although our coming together at the family Christmas party was brief before departing back home to California, I was amazed with the warmth and humbleness in which Gino welcomed us into the family. I thought to myself, this is not an ordinary man, he is an accomplished man who truly personified all the characteristics and qualities so well recounted in his obituary.
Gino, I wish we had more time together, but I know that you are up in heaven now working on projects and making sure you keep an eye on Linda, Lisa, John-Paul, Sarah and the rest of your wonderful family. May you rest in eternal peace, Sir! You will be missed!
Linda, my deepest condolences.

JP. I never met your father but i have family that have known him a very long time and fellow ‘Celano’ community members. The words in the obituary brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of a generation that we likely will never see much of today. We DO have hope in the G2’s and G3’s and you have certain shown it. while I didn’t know your father personally, i have had the pleasure of working with you in business and you are professional, thoughtful , detailed, thorough and such an incredibly great work ethic – clearly something that came from your father. You are no doubt proud and i’m sure he’ll be smiling from above watching how you walk in his footsteps and live in his best example. It sounds like he has an amazing family. Speak his name often. Share his stories. Share his character and personality because the world sure needs more of it. My heart goes out to all of you. Losing a parent – the very foundation of who we are is definitely a void that is painful but… it is now one that is forever reserved with lots of love and memories for you to draw on whenever you need it. I will think of all your family and say a special prayer for you. God Bless his remarkable life. your Friend – Cathy Ciccolini
