elevated XLHf6 Obituary
With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Giuseppina Altomare in her ninety-eighth year.  Born in Rogliano Calabria she was the first of 5 children, to parents Marco and Teresa, and was always devoted to their needs.  As the eldest, and the quiet voice of reason, she became a pillar of support to her siblings, Giuseppe (Caterina), Assunta (Pierino), Rosa (Pasquale) and Giuliana (Romano).

elevated XLHf6 In 1959 she left Italy and would sail on the ship Iripina on her maiden voyage to Halifax.  Met by brother Giuseppe and accompanied by sister Rosa they would travel to Toronto and begin lives in their new homeland.

elevated XLHf6 Giuseppina was a graceful woman with exquisite taste, she quickly found work at Ice Box flowers where she honed her creative talents with decorative seasonal floral arrangements for the city’s finest hotels and department stores.  Giuseppina was understated but stylish and could always focus people’s attention to simple beauty and happiness, spawning a family tradition of holiday visits to the city’s festive Christmas window displays.

elevated XLHf6 Giuseppina was a sensitive soul and loving aunt. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, Teresa (Piero), Franco (Rossana), Rose (Peter), Teresa (Frank), Marco (Daniela), Teresa (Richard), Anna (Steven), Cesare (Laura) and Assunta.

elevated XLHf6 She had a regal appearance coupled with a peaceful soothing presence that attracted her many grand nieces and nephews into her orbit; Ricardo, Diego, Eleonora, Camilla, Erica, Michael, Quinn, Jayden, Isabella, Charlotte, James, Mia, and Lucas will all fondly remember their Great Aunt

elevated XLHf6 Giuseppina will be dearly missed but not forgotten as all of us were made better by the high standards she displayed. We will all carry with us her example of unrelenting faith and love.
