It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hee-Young (Kim) Sukhraj, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world at 12:53 PM on November 10, 2024, at the age of 70. Surrounded by her loved ones, she departed peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that touched all who knew her.
elevated ugUWl Born on May 6, 1954, in Seoul, Korea, to Myung Soo Kim and Soon Jin Kim, she grew up with a strong sense of family and compassion that shaped her into the loving person we all cherished. She was married to her devoted husband, Dax, for 47 years, with whom she shared a lifetime of joy, support, and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised a family that remains as close-knit as it is today.
elevated ugUWl Kim was a dedicated mother to her three children, nurturing them with love, patience, and wisdom. Her family was her pride and joy, and her role as a mother and Halmonee (grandmother) brought her boundless happiness. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spent countless hours creating treasured memories with them. Beyond her vibrant spirit, Kim embodied a gentle strength that inspired all who knew her. She faced challenges with grace and resilience, teaching us the value of perseverance and the power of a positive outlook. Her presence was a comforting reminder that strength does not always have to be loud; sometimes, it is the quiet determination to keep moving forward.
elevated ugUWl She is survived by her husband, Dax; her children, Jason (Rebecca), Justin (Alex), and Kristina; her adored grandchildren, Jaxon, Zuri, and Austin; and her siblings. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who she loved and will all deeply feel her absence.
elevated ugUWl Visitation/viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, from 3 PM to 8 PM, followed by a funeral service for immediate family on Saturday from 8 AM to 10 AM at Holy Cross Funeral Home (211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, L3T 3Z6). In her memory, donations to the Sunnybrook Hospital – Odette Cancer Center would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

My dear sister in law Kim was one of the most selfless person I know. She was a warm, amazing and loving person. We were so blessed to have her in our lives and couldn’t have asked for a better sister In law. She was always there for us no matter what’s the situation, good or bad and for that we will be eternally grateful.
We will miss her dearly and she will forever be in our hearts. Thank you for reminding us that the present moment is precious and we should make the most of it by loving fully and generously.
Though Kim is no longer with us, her spirits will live on in every act of kindness we do in her name.

Kim was one of the most selfless person I know. She was an amazing, loving and caring person and we were so lucky and blessed to have her is our lives.
She was the best sister-in-law anyone could ask for and we will be eternally grateful for her compassion and support she give to all of us.
Even though Kim is no longer with us, as we bid her her farewell, let us carry forward the love, kindness and compassion she brought into our lives and her spirits will live on in every act of kindness we do in her name. You will be missed dearly but will forever be in our hearts.

My first meeting with Kim was when I first came to Canada. Although my cousin, Dax and Kim were newly weds, they opened their home and hearts and welcomed me. The first time I ever met my boujie Kim, was at the wedding in buffalo where we all met, reminiscing and enjoying every body’s company. She was such a nice and simple person from the short time I saw her.

I honor and remember the life of Kim, a woman who touched the hearts of everyone she met.
I first heard about Kim through my dear friend Prem, who would often mention her name when corresponding, while he was studying abroad. Even then, it was clear that she was someone very special to him. I knew she held a unique place in his heart.
The day Dax brought Kim to Guyana and invited his closest friends to celebrate their wedding was unforgettable. Meeting Kim in person, I immediately understood why Prem cherished her so deeply. She was warm, kind, and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. His eyes sparkled as she has been introduced and their love for each other was evident.
Kim’s impact on those around her was profound. She touched everyone who crossed her path in one way or another. Her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit were evident in everything she did. She was not just Prem’s wife; she became a sister to me through my closeness to my childhood friend Dax.
I am deeply saddened by Kim’s passing. Words cannot fully express how much she meant to her family and friends. My deepest sympathy goes out to Dax and the entire family during this difficult time.
