elevated LoPA0 Obituary
elevated LoPA0 Our family sadly lost a pillar on the morning of Thursday, March 24, 2022, when Victoria Bolivar Diaz Fojas, favorably known as Vicky, passed away in her sleep. She was at home, exactly as she wished. She was comfortable and surrounded by loved ones.
elevated LoPA0 Vicky is survived by a strong community network of family and friends spanning Canada, Philippines, USA and beyond, and most especially by her husband, Sabiniano Fojas Jr., their two daughters; Jamie (Robert) and Janice (Peter), and three grandchildren. Vicky is also survived by seven siblings; Sister Mary Agatha, Artily, Belina, Nilo, Rev. Erno, Dr. Osias, and Dolores, and many more cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederico & Rosario Diaz, and older brother, Honorio Diaz, Sr.
elevated LoPA0 She spent her life role-modeling kindness and compassion. Her commitment to family & friends was solid and energizing; constantly tickled at the sight of her grandkids, always laughing with her siblings during weekly video calls, and intent on being present for every vacation, party, and milestone. She was passionately in the service of helping the most vulnerable for 45+ years, starting as a nurse at Michael Garron Hospital (formerly TEGH), and progressing to Director of Nursing at Shouldice Hospital until she retired in 2019. She believed education was the key to life-long fulfillment, in her case taking her from St. Paul University in Manila to York University – Schulich School of Business in Toronto. She was a devout Catholic; her faith in God was at the core of her being and resolutely central to any decision she made.
elevated LoPA0 Her smile and energy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she knew.
elevated LoPA0 The family would also like to thank The Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital for their thoughtful care.
elevated LoPA0 For those wishing to make a donation in her name, please consider her local parish, St. Mary Immaculate Church, Richmond Hill

Ate Vicky was a very caring and loving person and always had a big smile. Her devotion to her community, especially to the Association of Cavitenos in Canada was quite admirable. There is always a certain twinkle in her eyes when she’s around friends, and it even glowed more when she is around her family, especially with her grandchildren.
